That is awesome looking hanging on a truck, but no way it's coming within 6 feet of my tires, radiator or tanks. That would make it strictly ornamental for me. It looks like it could move some snow pack or black sheet ice off an icy, uphill, shady switchback though--You rocky mountain guys know...
We took a bone stock rogue AWD from enterprise rental up pikes peak a few years back & it handled snow dirt & mud without drama. I'm sure the new ones are even more capable. We do see the occasional x-trail in Houston, they sell them in Mexico I guess. Very Subaru-ish
Yeah, I'd probably sell it too, but I agree a rack on top & some all terrain tires are a must. And a tow hitch. Can you put steel bumpers on a unibody? The new jeep Cherokee is a very similar concept
Single speed AWD, unibody, low ground clearance & limited soft-reader credentials, but just pretend somebody GAVE you one for free. What would you do to it, where would you start? Strictly academic
They're 200k reliable, but my brother's ecoboost fleet trucks lose so much MPG when they throw the mud terrain tires on them & drop into the low single digits when towing. Great engine for a daily driver, great power when you need it, but even marginal load increases ensure you'll be into the...
Right on, my grandmother lives downtown in the museum district in ft worth.
I'm a Yokohama guy, but I like that tread design a lot. Walmart taking a page out of discount tire playbook? DT has been grabbing a ton of business with their Cooper ATP house tire for years.
I'm thinking of removing factory crossbars & using a giant mesh platform from rhino rack instead, over top of the big tubes. That would give me tons of width & unlimited mounting points for a roof bag in the middle & either bikes or boards on either side. It would sit higher though. On daily...
That's not great, but its 3 girls worth of 50lb suitcases--Better than nothing! What if I scrap the factory crossbars & mount a platform or basket to the main tubes in their place? Would the stock load ratings still apply, or would that replace the weakest link in the system & buy me a bit more...
Good looking tire, I haven't seen the authority AT before. I can't place "funky town" though, where is that? Assuming Texas from all the big bend discussion...
I hate to say it, but I may be upgrading to one of the Titan pro 4x sooner than I thought.. The wife & I just outgrew the frontier Pro 4 by adding my baby nephew & his car seat, with associated extra bags & toys. The frontier is just a but too small for that & we ended up having to roof carry...
