What were the factors with the tire failures? Age of tires? Stored outside? Tire pressure? Wear? Load? Tire brand? Load rating?
I agree. It's good to be mindful of all the factors. Maintained quality tires within load spec should be fine. Of course, failures can and will happen...
Why is there so much concern over the Letter Rating? Load rating is the important number. There are many (possibly even the majority) Load E tires that are rated at 3,195lbs. This is significantly less than the Load D 37s.
Also.... Giving additional "buffer room" isn't necessary. Tire...
1. have the springs re-arched ( just a cold set) and install a helper spring ~$700
This will offer the worst (rough) ride. Those springs sound worn out.
2. New custom spring packs from the local spring shop ~$1200
Better option.
3. New 1500 OEM Springs with Add-A-Leaf ~$500 + My install time...

Steps may seem boring but they provide ease and safety vs climbing into your truck camper. Not having stairs has proven...
Fully loaded with full tanks, gear, 2 people and provisions for 2 weeks off grid. Front: 4,650 - Rear: 6,150
In the 17" wheel size most 37s are limited to Load D. There are a few exceptions in the MT variety such as the Maxxis Razr MT which is load E. You can also increase the width to 13.5"...
In "work mode" hauling our 14k dump trailer with 4 yards of gravel. Was reviewing the Super Duty spec sheets again... It's interesting this truck is rated for max towing @ 15k lbs which is the same as the F250/F350 7.3L only the diesel can exceed that rating to 20k lbs in F350 form with proper...
We’ve owned the Yamaha RMAX for several weeks now and wanted to share our review. Our experience in the Side by Side world is limited as this is our first! However, anyone considering purchasing might find our observations and feedback interesting.
Overall, we are having a great time with this...
Yep! We drove the entire state of Idaho off road (videos coming) with the tires aired down the entire time front 20-25psi and rear 30-35psi. 1,500 miles for 6 weeks. Fully loaded with camper (10-11k lbs). 23k miles on the 37x12.5R17 Load D
Tire letter is "old school" same as the "ply rating" (8...
We take our newly purchased 2021 Yamaha Wolverine RMAX2 XTR side by side on an off road rock crawling adventure… the ULTIMATE TEST DRIVE!
We purchased this off roader used with 700 miles planning to take it on difficult rock crawling trails we previously traveled with our old Tacoma (see...
This is a different type of build project... And YES it will be fully road legal (many states). This is our first UTV and think it will be a fun addition... You may have seen our current Overland build 2020 Super Duty...
Our Custom Deaver Leaf pack is designed for ~ 3" lift with 3,500lb constant load. They are a beefy pack. They allow for us to have the camper fully loaded plus towing our 14ft enclosed trailer while riding level front to back.
The individual leaf springs are thicker... and a bunch more...
We finally completed the F250 Super Duty build! The final missing parts were the bumper lights. These lights were originally planned for the truck but I just didn’t want to spend the time or money…until NOW.
40” LED Light Bar – Rough Country 72940BD - $310

4.30 Gears for sure. Better towing, ready for larger tires, better in town MPG, better resale and cheapest factory option ever! Aftermarket regear will easily cost $2-3k.
I doubt there is any MPG hit. But if there was... it would be ONLY when traveling empty at high speed. Really isn't a...
Is it necessary? With the 240amp alternator... Nope. At least not for most. We have a 50amp DC to DC charger for the camper. The alternator has no issues charging at idle. We run our winch more than most and the alternator keeps up fine. All the aftermarket lights are LED today (low power...
Gear drama... That's been my experience with aftermarket gears. Even done by pros. They don't last or have issues (and expensive). Hard to beat the factory 4.30s (for cost and lack of drama).
Hope you can get it sorted out!
Nope... the bump stop extensions are due to removing the factory blocks. These blocks have "ears" that the factory bump stops would contact at full compression. With the blocks removed... the bump stop will contact the axle tube which is why they need to be extended. There's no gain in...
That's true the spring pack is thicker which overall may be similar in profile height to the stock springs with block. Actual ride height and quality not accounted for.
