I have just purchased a 1977 FJ40 and I need to SMOG it in the state of California. I would love some help identifying the components needed for emissions. My FJ40 has an aftermarket carb and a header installed. I will need to replace both. I was told that the engine may also have had a SMOG...

Driving down the road in my TDI Jetta I notice things that I dont see in my cruiser. The rear shock mounting in a full size Chevy truck has the passenger side shock in frount of the axle and the drivers side behind the axle. On a full size Ford both shocks are behind the axle.
Since I will be...
I have an old 1968-70? FJ40 engine, transfercase and transmission. out of a non running cruiser. Its good for parts, plus a lot of extras starters distributers etc.. Does anyone collect these old parts? I'd like to give the parts to someone who may use them.
Every times it rains I get a wet carpet at the drivers side under the pedals, my old Dodge would leak there when the outside air vent was clogged with leaves, but I dont have anything in the vent of my FJ60. It leaks while parked. I dont seem to get water on my feet while driving.
I've been thinking that the footprint of my SO FJ60 looks a little narrow, I have two options, get new wheels with a larger offset or use a wheel spacers.
Your thoughts or experiance would be helpfull.
Is it worth the time to disassemble the leaf springs and install pads to allow the leafs to move more freely, and are the slip pads available? Would picces of teflon work for this application. What about the brackets?
I'm building a rear bumper and I'm looking for pivot hinges one for carrying the spare tire and one for the gas cans. Is there anything "off the shelf"
After looking at my FJ60 on a test ramp I could see how it would be nice to get a little more travel from the springs, but I would like to not have the extra flex when driving down the road. Does anyone have something like the Teraflex for a FJ60 with the option of locking it for road travel.
We made a test ram and stuck the nearert FJ60 on it not bad for a wagon. It's 36" tall at the highest. This is real handy for checking travel shock stroke springs, interesting while backing down the ramp the front driveline fell our of the slip yoke, go figure.
I am looking for the name of a National Geographic television program of a modern day explorer traveling in a rented Landrover for a couple hundred miles to see hieroglyphs on a mountian top. He travels from a hot desert town to a frozen mountian top. The place is somewhere in the Middle East...
