Vss
The VSS I thinking of was mounted under the cover on the rear of the FJ60 transfercase, the cover is at the nut that tightens the gears on the input shaft of the transfercase. The wires must come through the cover via a gromet. I thought the sensor came with a new cover.
I cant seem to...
Vss
The one I'm thinking of mounts to the rear of the FJ60 Transfercase under the cover, I dont remember if it came with a new cover. I don't see that application at JTR I guess I need to call them.
Any ideas on where I could get a VSS (vehicle speed sensor) for Vortec mated to FJ60 transfercase. Downey Off Road had the cool set up but they closed before I could buy them.
Cruiseroutfit, Do you offer a shim kit to replace the crush sleeve on the crush sleeve type pinion? If so I would be interested in it. I'll set the diff up myself.
I'm in desperate need of the right throwout bearing retainer for a 4 speed fj60 transmission, the one on the left fits the AA bearing for a Chevota but the I.D. of the retainer is too loose for the input sleeve. I'm not sure what the one on the right fits.
Crush vs shims
I was told by the guy at West Coast Differentials that the housings will accept either but the pinions are different. I chickened out buying the ring and pinion there becouse it was made in India. I really don't know if that's good or bad but I want something atleast as good as...
My FJ 60 diff uses a crush sleeve to set the pinion location, another gearset I have uses shims to set the pinion. I tried to buy a 3.70 gear set and they only had a set that uses shims, I guess they are interchangable.
Any ideas on waht you guys like better?
Oh I am still looking for a 3.70...
fj60 running gear
I would invite you to come over and drive my FJ60, then drive my buddy's FJ60 with Vortec V8, there is a big difference. Mine is like driving a John Deere tractor and his is like driving a Ferrari. He gets 10-12 mpg I get 20-25 mpg. Mine is sprung over his is not. The cool...
fj60 running gear
Am I a fan of fj60 stuff or what?
I have run stock fj60 running gear behind Cummins 6BT5.9 for ten years straight, all kinds of terrain, not babied, poorly maintained not even rebuilt with 200 K miles, driven over every bolder I could find. Pulled my 23 foot boat to Tahoe 75...
I am putting fj60 running gear in my fj40. Engine is Chevy V6. Since the parts are gathered from here and there I have a question about the clearance between the throw-out bearing carrier and the input sleeve on the transmission. The input sleeve measures 1.50" O.D., the throw-out bearing...
I have two transmission / tcases one with a 4" cast iron spacer and another one without.
I dont know where the ine without the spacer came from. Boyj tcases are split cases.
G wagon axle
One problem I could think of is that the G-wagon axle would be driving in metric units and the jeep in english units. That the reason the Mars Explorer missed it's target on the planet and crashed. Just be careful.
I am in need of three broken birfields from late model cruisers, the broken part should be in the ball part of the birfield. This is a top secret project, ok not, but I saw a cool spare tire rack and need damaged birfields for it.
