Gitout.com - Ultimate Expedition Build - 2003 Mitsubishi Montero Limited

Stock tank is fine depending on where you go... Funny how in Australia everyone runs aux tanks where in American people use Jerry cans. Aux tank puts the weight down low, much larger capacity, safer, easier to fill. I would never put gas on the roof. And dislike bumper swing outs or anything...

Gitout.com - Ultimate Expedition Build - 2003 Mitsubishi Montero Limited

They are the HD lift springs. I think the Group 31m battery and skids put it over the weight specs... when combined with the ARB bumper and winch. I'm sitting probably .5-1" over stock height. I would like to get another 1-1.5" up front. Skids are a requirement if you run trails. Mine have...

Gitout.com - Ultimate Expedition Build - 2003 Mitsubishi Montero Limited

I've seen and read several reporting they gave slightly more lift than the OME springs. That was true initially but now it sits lower than the OME springs. I'm a bit heavy, especially in the front. However, they do ride incredibly well with the Nitro Sport shocks. I'm considering custom...

Better roof rack using factory mounting holes?

http://www.journeyoffroad.com/ - Makes custom racks to any spec. Joe did a nice rack for my 2013 Tacoma to hold the roof tent and awnings.

    New guy with gen3 montero

Wouldn't recommend doing that. The ARB bumper mounts are not designed for impact type pulling. The factory recovery loops work just fine.

Moonroof Woes…or are they Sunroof Woes

That's good to know. I actually have to pull the entire headliner as I'm having a custom rack built and need to fix a dent that was accumulated this year on a trail. Thanks for the info.

    JDM Engine Question

It's a nice, extremely clean rig. My friend Joe "Journey Off Road" built the roof rack. Incredible buy for what you get. I'd buy it if there was space to park it.

    Sad day for my montero

Does it drive / track poorly? Did you buy the truck with a bent frame or was it in a wreck?

Moonroof Woes…or are they Sunroof Woes

My brother's 03 Monty sunroof wasn't closing properly. He took it to the dealer. They reset something in the computer and it works perfectly. Not sure how it programs itself for open/close range. I'm guessing it has some safety features built in that may tie into the computer. Don't know...

Making my choice: 1995 SR or 2002 Limited

Gen3 is much larger inside. Plus, it's newer so less old vehicle type issues..

    2005 Montero tire size question???

Lift will NOT provide increased clearance for larger tires. You are dealing with the same suspension travel range stock as lifted. You will rub the exact same spots lifted or stock as the suspension cycles. This is a huge misunderstanding people have with IFS / IRS rigs. Only on level ground...

Gitout.com - Ultimate Expedition Build - 2003 Mitsubishi Montero Limited

Yes, I know how to post images. However, it's more time consuming uploading them to my server then posting the links so I haven't spent the time to do it. Previously, I could upload them to the forum which was quick. I may update it when I have more time in the fall...

Gitout.com - Ultimate Expedition Build - 2003 Mitsubishi Montero Limited

Just turned over 100k miles on the way back from Bend this weekend... I've driven Monty 10k miles since purchasing it in April. Rather impressive considering it was parked for 30 days while modifying it and it's only used for expedition/adventures. Looking forward to many more adventures to come!

    New guy with gen3 montero

My recommendation... don't do it. Extremely difficult to keep clean. I know it's cool to do among the off road crowd but not a good choice in my opinion.

Why can't we have New Montero here?

There are several reports of the Montero coming to the US in 2016. My local dealer was also talking with me about that. However, it will be their redesign which will likely not resemble the current version. Mitsubishi USA has poor offerings and poorer marketing. It's no wonder they are...

    Montero vs TLC 100

It's been a number of years. I think they ran $300-350 for the pair. They will engineer the springs... you just tell them what you want. Such as progressive / linear rate, 400lbs constant weight over stock @ 3" lift. It is a much better solution than OME in most cases unless you fit...

    Montero vs TLC 100

Yes, my rear bumper is hammered. That's something that needs upgrading if you plan to run difficult trails.
