    Unloading/ Loading a truck camper....

When I take my camper off the truck I use a set of the leveling screw jacks to support the floor. They work good and are easy to store when not in use. When I leave the camper on the truck I use the corner camper jacks to stabilize the camper. The only time I take the jacks off is if I'm going...

    Unloading/ Loading a truck camper....

Most of the time if I'm going to stay in one place like a campground for more than one day I take the camper off the truck so it is lower to the ground and easier to get in and out of it. I have never had a campground tell me I couldn't take it off my truck, I never even thought it would be...

    THE OSHKOSH M 1070 (!)

I have only seen one Oshkosh MTVR out in private hands, and it was a wreck that needed tons of parts. For the price of the parts you could probably buy a fleet of older trucks. I spent 8 years in the Army and 3 in the Navy driving all kinds of vehicles, now I own an M35A2 and a M923A2. Out...

    THE OSHKOSH M 1070 (!)

The MTVR is an awesome truck, I would love to get one. Too bad they don't get show up on the surplus market, I think they get sent back to Oshkosh for rebuild or destruction.

    THE OSHKOSH M 1070 (!)

I don't own one but I spent some time in the military around them. I do own a M35A2 2.5 ton truck and a M923A2 5 ton truck, I love big Army trucks. Very good trucks for hauling heavy loads on rough terrain. Down side is they are slow, about 45 miles-per-hour and the wonderful sounding Detroit...

    My current 6x6 project

Can't wait to see the pictures. I won't be making my camper permanent, I use the bed for hauling fire wood and other stuff. I would like to set my truck up so the bed mounts and dismounts easily and then build a camper bed for it. Get done hauling wood, remove the cargo bed. Mount the camper...

    My current 6x6 project

Don't have to worry about the GVWR, but I do have to deal with the spring time frost laws limiting speed and weight for vehicles on the highways and county roads.

You have a nice looking truck, you are further along than I am on the 5 ton camper project. I have A 1990 M923A2 that I have been working on . So far I have done some injector pump adjustments and exhaust improvements. I have added a pyrometer to keep tabs on the exhaust temperatures and i'm...

Show me your "Adult" rigs and how you keep them running.

My 1990 BMY M923A2, 8.3 liter Cummins Diesel with an Allison 5 speed. I just do Normal preventative maintenance and keep the air and fuel clean.

Scoutman's 'new' Starcraft Pine Mtn on Dodge 3500

Mine probably didn't need to be braced but i'm paranoid. I have been keeping a tarp on mine except when i'm using it because I'm worried about leaks. This year I need to re-seal the plastic dome that is over the bathroom , It looks like the caulking is missing in a couple spots. One thing I...

Scoutman's 'new' Starcraft Pine Mtn on Dodge 3500

Scoutman back in post 104 you mentioned how the jacks are installed with just lag bolts into the wood. The only problem I have had is the right rear jack has been bashed a couple of times. The first time I backed into a post and bent the bracket that bolts onto the camper. When I repaired it...

Scoutman's 'new' Starcraft Pine Mtn on Dodge 3500

I measured the outside of the campers body at approximately 86 and 1/2 inches. If you add the jacks it is 97 and 1/2 inches wide.
