Getting solar power under the hood of my 5th Gen 4Runner

Yeah I have considered it for sure. I just want to eliminate as much set-up and take-down time as possible with my style of camping. Speed is important to me as a photographer. I totally see your point though. I kind of just want this thing wired and ready to go at all times so that all I have...

Getting solar power under the hood of my 5th Gen 4Runner

Do you mean you drilled a hole into the body of your vehicle? I'm hoping to avoid that. I'd prefer to find a way to mount something into/onto my bumper or grill, etc. Maybe the hood scoop? =)

Getting solar power under the hood of my 5th Gen 4Runner

Hi all, I am finally ready to get solar going in my rig. I already have a 2nd battery with a dual battery system ( http://ibs-tech.ch/en/products/dual-battery-system/ibs-dbs.html ). This is already wired to a hella 12V plug in the rear of my cargo area next to the OEM 12V and AC power outlets...

    Awning verses an ez up

As many others have noted, the convenience of an awning is that it takes less time to deploy or take down, which for me is always something I'm striving for as a photographer that moves locations frequently. The EZ-up offers more protection but it takes forever to set-up and tear down. Also it...

Who overlands for the purpose of photography?

Photography and backpacking are my primary reasons for overlanding. I also do drone photography and so I'm working on improving my solar ability to recharge the batteries =)

    Water Storage for a 5th Generation 4Runner

Hi all, Slowly building out my 4Runner. My set-up when complete will include at least two ARB Outback slider/cargo boxes, potentially 3 (two large 11" on the left and one large 11" or small 4" on the right). On the right is where my fridge will go. Historically for water, I have been bringing...

    12v plug & socket

Thanks everyone that explained which connector that was I was asking about - I found an adaptor on Amazon and it works great! It helped me discover that it was directly wired to my 2nd battery and I can use it while my car is shut off. Now I need to get solar set-up to the battery under my hood...

    Fridge / Solar / Slider set-up questions

Hi, I have a 2011 Toyota 4Runner with some pretty nice upgrades already but was looking to fine-tune my rig for further overlanding with a priority on set-up and space conservation / organization / power (solar). I currently have two ARB Outback rollers (one tall and one short), and it looks...
