1972 Mercedes 0309D Omnibus Van project in Beaverton, Oregon

I just had the chance to top it out over this last weekend, and floored on the flats in 5th gear it goes 55mph according to my GPS. No idea about mileage yet, I'll try to calculate that by driving it around a bit. Also, when it warmed up it didnt smoke that badly, just normal 1972 Diesel...

    New Toy: 1972 Mercedes 0 309 Omnibus

I have bled the clutch, and it works great now! I also found out that the tranny is a 5 speed- it has a Krawler gear I wasnt aware of! Makes getting it onto the trailer much nicer. I had a chance to get it out on a long stretch of road, and got it up to 55mph GPS certified. :) Video coming soon.

I'm going to guess, based on a recent fill up, that the tank is in the 20 gallon range. I'll have to get back to you on MPG, to early to know... I also have yet to max out the speedo, it doesnt work great. I'll hook the GPS up and get it out there! Thanks!

    New Toy: 1972 Mercedes 0 309 Omnibus

It can haul the Hafi in a pinch, it just barely fits through my door. That was part of the reason for making one big one, plus I want a cool table to fold down from the door once it's open. Also it was the easiest method. ;) I've decided on a color! Ignore the ghetto jack stand sitution...
