Sorry I was more asking what you did to support the two halves when they flipped open to support the middle of the bed. instead of the milk crate Did your table leg do double duty or something?

David, do you have any pictures about how the dinette ended up in the end? I've mulled over 10 different ideas and I can't land on one I'm super happy with. Did you drill out air holes and lightning holes in this set up? What did you end up using as the support?

Rambo - GMC Ambo Conversion (Roof Raise)

Unfortunately I don't have any videos. My wife was telling me I should film some stuff but I'm just not disciplined enough to always think of grabbing the camera etc. Although I really wish I did. Part of me is a little embarrassed if people see my ramrod ways lol. 2' is a lot but I think it's...

Rambo - GMC Ambo Conversion (Roof Raise)

Thanks David. I remember 9 months ago when I was first looking at getting an ambo you cautioned me to keep it simple. I wish I listened ?. I think I'm more or less on track to have her ready to hit the road by end of March...I haven't figured out what year yet though.

More painting and not much else. It’s really nice to see some visual progress!

I'm struggling with the small space of my shower plumbing as well. It's interesting how hard it is to find a low profile mixing valve that operates like a shower mixer valve and not a "3-way valve". I have need looking at a bidet mixer but I haven't pulled the trigger yet.

Just plugging along. Yesterday I built the dresser now that the counters are in place and today I sanded and primed the cabinets opposite the sink.

Rambo - GMC Ambo Conversion (Roof Raise)

It’s been a while since I posted. Not much to report. Just lots of sanding and painting. The oiled cutting board blocks off the sink for when you want extra counter space. The tin tile backsplash came in a lot darker than I planned (it was supposed to be closer to copper) but I think it will...

I hate drilling stainless. Go buy a good bit for the job and keep the pressure high and the speed low. The tile looks good. I was wondering about doing tile backsplash with going down a bumpy road etc. I was thinking the PL would be good enough and DAP no more nails for the "grout" or something...

Ambulance Conversion - Info Request B4 Purchase

I could have bought one for $1000cdn last summer. It has all the inverters and electrical too so I thought it was a very good deal but I did not need it. I think this is a great option if anyone wanted material are the aluminum skin alone to buy would be worth 4X that.

Bob the Campulance. E350 Crestline with Roof Raise. V3 in Progress.

Space in a bed is paradise. My hanging bed turned out pretty well. Obviously I need to torture test it still but If you're stripping everything out, maybe thing about it. It sounds like you will be raising the roof too?

Awesome! It’s a lot of work but I’m sure you will be glad when it’s all done and you have a rig exactly how you want it. I recall you’re in Alberta right? I’m new at this but I’ve learned some lessons along the way already so feel free to reach out if you have any questions I might have learned...

Cold weather insulation while using swivel seats

I designed my build for -40 weather. What van are you planning on building from? I am 191cm so I also wanted a full length bed too. I insulated the floor of the cab and the doors. It will also have insulated window covers but there are a lot of areas on the firewall that are just are too...

    Ambo Introduction

Looks like a really awesome platform. The electrical is intimidating but 90% of the things that are in there you don't need. You can repurpose some stuff but depending on how deep you are going to dive sometimes it's easier to pull it all out. However, with the lights and everything intact, I'm...

Raise the roof or sell the Van..

Find a jon boat, take out the seats, and flip it over and weld it to your roof. If it’s aluminum , weld some angle brackets you can bolt to and fill the gaps with PL9000

Rambo - GMC Ambo Conversion (Roof Raise)

Update: There were some pin hole bumps on the finish after the first coat. I took all the bumps down with 400 grit sand paper til it felt smooth by hand, wiped and applied a second coat. Coming back 8 hours later I still have a couple The polyurethane feels a little thick and grabby. I put more...

Rambo - GMC Ambo Conversion (Roof Raise)

Sorry for the lack of posts. I’ve been working midnights and just cutting, sanding, sanding, sanding. This is the first time I’ve stained butcher block. I heard of lots of people having blotchy results so I sanded 40, 100, 180, 240 and then I used Mineax prestain conditioner, Minwax oil based...

Rambo - GMC Ambo Conversion (Roof Raise)

Starting to look like a thing. I still need to sand the counter hole for a long long while I’m sure. I have a lot of moving parts on the go and I’m trying to decide what to prioritize as they start to converge
