    It seems most of you guys have diesels. Mine is gas. So far I found a new gas tank from a 1974 blazer that fits between the frame rails. It is 10 3/4 deep, 25 gallons. Meaning if mounted at frame rail level height, it protrudes only 10 3/4 inch deep. I don't see a need for a fuel gauge on that...

    Thanks for the info. The truck I'm building has about the same length as the 170ext MB sprinter. Maybe 6inchs longer. The cabover design is better for turning radius. In the end, I have 5700mm + 440mm on frame length. Some compromise is warranted. I appreciate the discussion, Thanks

    Wheelbase question: We tried to decide on wheelbase based on overhang in the rear. We decided to have less overhang in the rear, and sacrifice a longer wheelbase. Any opinion?? Our on bed length is 3700mm + 440mm rear storage box

    The dana axle comes from a 2015 F450 - Gear ratio is matched to the rear Isuzu - Lockers on both diffs.

    Forget big tires and lift kits. The frame is not a real truck frame. The frame twist issue is no different than a Sprinter van with more weight and a higher center of gravity.

    The habitat production started and will be done mid September. It is turn key. I designed the subframe, have CAD drawings and will outsource the welding. The subframe and habitat have identical frame structures. Allowing a perfect fit as the habitat is lifted onto the truck.

    Update on the project. I pivoted. Because of warranty I went with Ridgerock. Today the truck arrived at the factory.
