    Total Composites and Ventilation

There is a great deal to be said about "tight" homes, that also apply to campers. And I dont doubt one bit that a composite panel cabin with all the good windows and doors being absolutely tight. Unless managed correctly, air quality can be a huge problem. From moisture/mold issues to perhaps...

    Cabover vs. Long-Nose Platform

Not sure which post you are referring to, but if it is with regards to leaf springs…. that boat left in the 90’s. 😉 Conventional have always been regarded as having superior ride quality to that of cabover. Not terribly sure of the reasons, but having logged more than a million miles...

    Cabover vs. Long-Nose Platform

Visibility is greatly improved. Ride quality however…. 😉

    Cabover vs. Long-Nose Platform

No argument there. Though the point still stands. There is nothing that would require the removal of the cab…. as you mentioned previously.

    Cabover vs. Long-Nose Platform

While not being a cab-over makes service/repair a bit more difficult, it doesn't make any service/repair impossible. To clear things up, the fact that shops pull the cab off of trucks is by choice, NOT necessity.

    Cabover vs. Long-Nose Platform

Surviving a rollover is one thing. Avoiding it is another. Id say the amount of weight above the belt-line of a typical ambo likely makes it more susceptible to a rollover than a proper lightweight cabin on a 1-ton pickup.

External Water Storage Guides through Camper / subframe?

We use silicone tubing for our water lines. But our system is low pressure, and short runs. I pushed to silicone as it can freeze without damage, and it is food grade. Depending upon the pressure you are running, a section of thick wall silicone tubing may work to allow for flex.

    Heat Recovery Ventilators

Indeed. Our camper is very quiet. The noisiest by far being the the Dometic/waeco DC fridge. Pretty sure it is 40-50dB. We often shut the fridge off for the evening, just to save the noise. And not just the volume, but the on-off cycles as it can be intrusive in an otherwise silent camper...

    Random dog shots

This big goofy Plott is typically mild mannered, but every so often the inner Plott comes out. ;)

Water pumps and hoses when do you replace them?

So many of todays engines with front covers that bury the water pump, its often a "while you are there" situation. That said, if the pump is easy to access, if it isnt broke, dont fix it. Id place more faith on a high mileage factory installed OE pump (that isnt leaking) over a garage...

    Heat Recovery Ventilators

Food for thought, with regards to relative humidity in North America.

    Heat Recovery Ventilators

So I did a bit more digging into the Lunas eGO as well as the E2 units. And again, HRV units have their place, but you have to decide whether or not it is justified for your use case. For those interested in these... there are a couple of items Id suggest you look into further There doesnt look...

    Heat Recovery Ventilators

For efficiency reasons.... We try to avoid serious heat :D

    Heat Recovery Ventilators

Definitely interesting, though pretty far removed from essentially near any camper built on this forum, let alone the typical camper usage. For the given use-case though, Id say it should be worthwhile from a simple fuel efficiency standpoint. Though time will tell as it is obviously completely...

Offroad capability of full size truck

If the camper will see any use below freezing, concerns about thermal bridging are far from overrated. Here is a specific example of a wood framed camper, using 3/4x1-1/2 VG fir framing, 1/4 ply exterior skin, and 1/8 interior ply skins.' This is at roughly 20 degrees F as I recall, and we...

    Heat Recovery Ventilators

No worries! And to be clear, I do feel like there is benefit to such a device, regardless of cabin/home size. However, IMO there is a serious question of justification. And I simply do not see the justification, considering the drawbacks. Cost and cost of install Complexity More weight Needs...

    The Heap. A Gen 2 Tracker/Vitara Build

Then its time to get the motor and trans sorted and mated. Fresh rear main seal, freshly surfaced flywheel, proper Japanese pilot bearing and Exedy clutch kit including throw-out bearing. And after the typical nonsense getting things lined back up, engine and trans were mated and in the...

    The Heap. A Gen 2 Tracker/Vitara Build

Freshly rebuild calipers, new coated rotors (no pads installed yet), and suspension back together. Factory struts test fine, so they were repainted and reused. Time will tell if those actually need replaced. ;) Im also ditching the front sway bar for now. Word on the street is these are...

    Heat Recovery Ventilators

As I have said, and exactly why I will hold my stance on these units in campers. Its a moisture issue, NOT a heat issue. And all this speak about "real world" and your assumption that leaving a window cracked in cold temps is the end of the world... We do it all the time. And I can assure you...

Looking for rigs w. 33", 34" or lager tires with swingouts.

Yep. Dont overlook drop-down/swing down carriers I opted for one for the Tracker to keep the weight down as it involves much less steel, is more simple, and I really just don't care for the look of the typical swing away That said, if I had another place to put this one spare Id do it. And...
