Lee's '04 Chevy Silverado 2500HD and Radica MoonLander camping shell

My OEM alloy rims were that color. Turns out I just needed a brake job. But seriously, I do like those rims AND that color. Gives a nice accent to almost any color

    Truck vs SUV for towing

I dont tow often but I have, and I do have a Leer cap on the back. In the past I have had Jeep Grand Cherokee and two GMT400 full size Chevy Blazers. All good points you've made, @eatSleepWoof , however, a rebuttal is in order to offer counter points: -a truck will out-tow an SUV of similar...

    Camper shell/topper identification

Great truck! That topper looks like every topper the older guys would have, back in the 70's and 80's before the fiberglass ones took hold. Lot of different makers. It looks pretty new, as far as maybe manufactured the last 10 years. Good luck

    Opinion Please

Um...nope. typically you dont have to remove the tranny to service it. Looks like that's a full-on transmission replacement

Lee's '04 Chevy Silverado 2500HD and Radica MoonLander camping shell

^^^ just checked out their site. Moonlander does make a swing-out/barn door setup. Nice to see how light these are, since they are not a traditional slide-in. I guess someone willing to pay 3 to 4 thousand bucks on a well appointed Leer topper might consider shelling out a few extra rubles...

An incident worth talking about. Kinetic Recovery Accident.

Glad this is out there. I'm not an expert at this and rarely need to help someone out of a snowbank, so this is helpful... ...if you have an hour to sit there watching a video of a talking head. That could have been a lot shorter and to the point, and would help a lot more people. Still glad...

1989 GMC Suburban "Trail Boss" conversion

Nice find. I love that generation Blazer, and the GMT400's that came after them

    Opinion Please

With all due respect, you mention add-ons and mods, but with 235K on the clock you would be wise to look at maintenance records. Even for a "Toyota." Check condition of spark plugs, all fluids, hoses and belts. See if the tires indicate undue wear or off alignment.

Sikaflex 505UV, suuuuper hard to pump out, normal?

I'm using something like it to seal between the logs of my cabin home. Up here in the NothEast, this time of year it is pointless to try and work with this stuff outside unless you have a warmer oven, like they use for mobile windshield replacement. Its gotta be warm and even then it's still a...

Ram 1500 build ... should I even bother?

My Leer cap is also used. I am also a cheap basssstard. It was made in 2011 for a GMT900 body, but is sitting for years on my 2014 K2 body k1500 GMC. With a Craigslist-sourced rack. It all works. I do the same. When I built the platform in the back, I forwent the bottom sheet of plywood...

Are there no side by sides discussed here?

As a kid I had worked with a few farmers and they just used tractors to work the land and pickups to traverse, grab bushels of apples or corn, and whatever. But another friend of mine who was not a farmer but had some amount of land, they had something we called a terrajet. Dont know if it's...

Ram 1500 build ... should I even bother?

https://forum.expeditionportal.com/threads/are-work-topper-shell-and-ladder-rack-6-5ft-bed.242978/ ^^^ Something along these lines. Obviously this is an industrial cap but the Kargomaster ladder rack is what I mean. And can be used with fiberglass cap if you like. Got my shell and my Trac...

Ram 1500 build ... should I even bother?

Same except no gutters on mine. I've had my racks mounted for YEARS and no cracks. There IS a small bit of bracket on the inside (underside) of the fiberglass as well, helping to stabilize

Ram 1500 build ... should I even bother?

Not sure about other companies but my fiberglass Leer 180 shell has no gutters. Maybe the industrial metal ones have gutters. For my fiberglass Leer, I found a Trac Rac "Cap Rac" made specifically for mounting to the top of a fiberglass shell. FYI Trac Rac is now owned by Thule. I did have...
