    Big skylights on Amazon

Traditional marine hatches are flange mounted. They do not use trim rings. So they work with essentially any roof/wall thickness, but do require the penetration to be “finished” due to the lack of trim ring.

    Big skylights on Amazon

Start looking into marine hatches. We have an aluminum framed thick lexan Bomar hatch for light/airflow/roof access. They come in a variety of sizes and are no-nonsense marine grade stuff. Going on 10+ years with ours without trouble. Its like this one…...

    Random dog shots

Cool. Plotts are incredible pups, in so many ways. We got near 13 years out of our old guy, that we said goodby to recently. He was a Plott/Lab.

    Tires

Unfortunate to see the neg comments about the AT3 For those that have had negative experiences, have you had the AT2 as well to compare? We are on our 3rd set (between two trucks) of AT2s, and have had great results in snow/ice conditions. As mentioned previously, they will require a round or...

    Tires

Funny, I get my USED tires siped just fine at the local les scwab. ;) A few years ago it was $8 per tire. A couple of months ago I had the 35" Toyo AT2s on the superduty resiped, now its $15 per tire. And still worth every penny.

    The Heap. A Gen 2 Tracker/Vitara Build

Well, final tear down complete, block and girdle sent to machine shop to hot tank, head sent to machine shop for the basics. We are prepping for a trip, but wanted to complete the inspection of parts to verify what, if any more parts I need to order. Seems I need pistons. Multiple cracked...

    The Heap. A Gen 2 Tracker/Vitara Build

Hard pass on any sort of swap. These J-series motors take a flogging. End definitely no diesel swap…. the truck that will tow it isnt even diesel. ;) In the end this rig will be like factory, but better.

    The Heap. A Gen 2 Tracker/Vitara Build

Then as I looked to yank the crankshaft, I realized that this is a 2-piece block that utilizes an engine girdle, and the engine stand setup doesnt allow you to pull the girdle, as its bolted to it  So I need to source a side mount for it, word has it a buddy of mine in town has one...

    The Heap. A Gen 2 Tracker/Vitara Build

A few photos as the engine tear down takes place Engine cam out easy enough, and went right onto the stand to be stripped and dismantled. Certainly something to say about the simplicity of a proper Japanese inline

    Tires

No matter the tire, if it is a proper high load tire that wear great, you will need to have them siped a time or two during their life. I'm a tried and true Toyo guy (AT2 currently) for our heavy truck and camper, and while they do great on ice and snow new, after 30k or so miles, they wear...

    The Heap. A Gen 2 Tracker/Vitara Build

After doing a pre-winter service to both my DD and the truck, I pulled the Tracker in for its teardown. Its in the shop for the duration now. And after 2-hours with degreaser and the pressure washer, it looks like game on... Next up is pulling the engine for a complete tear down and...

    The Heap. A Gen 2 Tracker/Vitara Build

Seems I never updated the progress on spare tire carrier. Its together enough for now, and turned out great IMO. Just have to sort out some tailgate straps/cables.

Thanks for all the insight everyone. Its appreciated. A bit more info… This will be a full-time setup. Within the next 5 years or so we will be hoisting anchor and hitting the road full time. So this isnt a simple get the tracker to the trail type of setup. More along the lines of get...

ITTOG's Truck Camper Build (was 6' x 12' Trailer Conversion)

Changes that pushed the camper from v2.0 to v3.0 were not entirely cosmetic. Ditched the small generator, so generator exhaust port (hole thru wall) was deleted. AC box in rear wall and vents in side wall was added, range hood fan and vent thru side wall added, reworked underside of cabover...

ITTOG's Truck Camper Build (was 6' x 12' Trailer Conversion)

More than a few reasons I went with the design I did. Truck tail/brake/clearance/reverse lighting is completely unobstructed. As is the license plate. And truth be told.... the ONLY reason I added tail/brake lights to the camper was to reduce the following distance of tailgaters. It doesn't...
