I was just looking into the duratracs, and it seems they have updated them and now they have the
Duratrac RT.

Nokian Outpost is a good option. I loved mine.

I will put a plug for having a dedicated set of snow tires though. Huge difference over even the best all terrain. A big part of it is the rubber compound working better in colder temps. Of you're going to swap out a perfectly good set of ATs you might as well get snows and a set of wheels and just swap each winter...

I understand the importance of a dedicated snow tire. I go in and out of snow too much for 100% snow tire.
That why I am trying to find the best tire "do it all tire" .

I was thinking of going with Generals but they do not come in the size I am looking for. So, back to search.

I put AT3's on my plow truck two trucks ago and was also not terribly impressed with winter performance either. Siping the AT3's is definitely worthwhile if you can find a shop that will do it.

Put Goodyear UltraTerrain's on the next plow truck and WOW, unstoppable!

I plowed last year with BFG AT KO's on my plow 'burb and it did pretty good too. This year I'm switching it to the Goodyear UltraTerrain's that I took off the last plow truck. They are EXCELLENT in ice and snow, so much so that I never chained that truck up at all and found myself plowing in 2wd quite a few times when I wasn't paying attention. I dare say they are quite a bit better than the Duratrac's that my wife put on her work truck.

The UltraTerrain is only available through Discount Tire or discounttiredirect.com, and only in a few sizes, but if one of those sizes works for you, I HIGHLY recommend you give them a try!

Since winter performance is important to you, be sure whatever tires you get next have the 3-peak mountain snowflake rating, it rating truly means something!

That's interesting. They look more sipped than the original duratracs which is usually good for snow.

Yokohama G015 is pretty decent. Just get something with the most edges from the factory.

No, I doubt they're on Goodyear's site, you have to go to discount tire... Here is a link I made just for you...

I think Cooper has a few treads that are discount tire only as well... The ATP was originally this way, though the ATP2 seems to be available elsewhere now... The Goodyear Wrangler Authority A/T is also missing from the Goodyear website, but available through Walmart originally, and now many other sources...

I have a new set of Milestar Patagonia XT's that I've been dying to try out. I'm doing an overhaul on my truck so I haven't had a chance to get them out yet. The snow is coming, I better get to it. I have the same issue as many. I'm in Arizona so I might see rocks, silt, mud, highway and snow all in the same day. I don't think there is a single tire that works perfectly in every environment; too many variables.

Ultraterrains have been out for 2-3 years I think. I've only heard good things about them and was really considering them until I found a guy selling cheap raptor takeoffs 5 minutes from my house.

I had the ultra terrains on my Ranger. I already had dedicated winters then and bought them as summer tires so I had no winter experience with them. They were quiet and looked good though.

I’m on my third set of Yokohama Geolander G015’s. One set each on my 4Runner, F150 and F250. They are hands down the best AT tire I’ve used in the winter between deep snow and ice packed roads up here in North Dakota. I stay away from mud but they’ve also worked great in loose dirt and sand. I’ve not treated them well on either truck especially on the F250 pulling heavy trailers and never had a failure or issue.

I’ve had other tires on the trucks too, Michelin Defender M/S2, Toyo Open A/T2/3, MasterCraft Courser CXT and General Grabber A/TX for comparison.
