Attaching an Aluminum Camper box to Aluminum frame....

If you are to bolt it together (I would) Id suggest using stainless hardware. It will minimize any galvanic corrosion. Just be sure to use more and/or larger fasteners than you would with a more conventional grade 8 bolt.

    SuperSprings

Sounds like a dampening issue. We run bags with stiff Mono-Max shocks on a 2011 superduty and dont experience anything like described. 2011 F250 SRW, typically rolling down the road at 11,000 to 12,000lbs, bags set to 65psi. Custom flatbed, large crossbody box, and 3k wet custom camper...

    The Heap. A Gen 2 Tracker/Vitara Build

Yeah, for those that care, this is the project absorbing any "free" time lately. Trying to wrap up the work left on the place I built for my folks. This weekend we knocked out more than 800sq ft of the nearly 2000sq ft deck. The deck is a KD select-struc doug fir deck. Fitted tight to minimize...

Id love to know what the output voltage of that transformer is ;)

    Water purification, LED UV, specifics....

Just to stir this up again, as I may be digging into it soon... We have been looking at picking up properties in WA, OR, or both. While snooping around looking at some very rural off-grid lands, I figured Id check in on the legality of rainwater collection. Oregon has a guide for it, link...

    Custom Cabin Filter

Figure its about time for an update. Short end of it.... this rocks. Single downside is that there is an obvious restriction of airflow, and reduced flow, when drawing from the cowl, which is now filtered... so no surprise really. So up until the last month or so using the defrost first...

    The Heap. A Gen 2 Tracker/Vitara Build

Thanks! Though its still side tracked. Far too many other projects in the works right now. I hope to get some serious work done on it this fall.

    Flatbed Deck Height?

Another way to look at it is to base it loosely upon available up-travel of the rear end. At ride height loaded I have less than an inch of height between the 35's and the bed rail. Given the rails are 6" tall and I have less than that in uptravel I'm in the clear. Though when you add flex to...

Why is Dodge more popular than Ford/GM? (Not a bash post)

Yep, Dodge/Ram has been cheaper for many, many years. Thats not to say they havnt upped their game recently though, as they really have. Their interiors are incredible. Still, the way I see it is simple…. if you want the simplicity of solid axles front and rear and leafs out back, both Ram...

    Flatbed Deck Height?

Like I said, when tire tire is stuffed, as in, when truck is flexed at its limits and one side of the trucks rear axle is hanging on its springs and the other is stuffed/flexed into the bump stop. That will likely dictate how low you can go with your bed deck height. The way mine is built...

    Flatbed Deck Height?

If you want to keep it as low as possible, your tire location when flexed/stuffed dictates the lowest. My bed is built this way, with a bit of clearance to allow for full stuff + tire chains.

    Bear proofing on vehicle-based expeditions?

Backpacking, and with a wife working the high sierra for the Forest Service, it was commonplace to find cars opened like a tuna can by a bear after something, anything, that even LOOKED like an ice chest. Didnt even have to have an odor about it. The bears had it figured out, and went after...

    Bear proofing on vehicle-based expeditions?

Only people that use fancy CF bear canisters are likely posers with too much money. Those of us that have been backpacking for decades use the original $75 Backpacker's Cache Its nothing more than ABS. But it is still the only version I know of thats used by the National Parks service. Its...

Plywood camper fabrication questions (thinking of idaSho)

I doubt it has any relevance. Id build a camper 2x the size of ours with the same walls.

Plywood camper fabrication questions (thinking of idaSho)

Nope. My personal opinion is that for the vast majority of people anything more than 1-1/2" foam is a waste of both money and weight.

Plywood camper fabrication questions (thinking of idaSho)

Yeah, dont even bother with anything thicker than 1/4"/6mm unless you are using garbage construction grade (ACX or CDX) plywood. And if you are... you likely have no business building a camper anyhow  So stick to the good stuff, and limit it to 6mm. You wont be sorry. As mentioned...

    Heating Options

Copper will never degrade. LP breaks down rubbers over time. And I'm fairly certain rubber is typically only used for supply lines as they are considered a wear item.
