    Heating Options

It does. Although in our experience it isnt worth worrying about. Unless you spend a great deal of time above 10k ft, LP does great. And to the comment about condensation, this only applies to vent-free LP heaters. A proper sealed burn LP furnace creates zero condensation. It is very...

Plywood camper fabrication questions (thinking of idaSho)

For a variety of reasons, I used 1x2 VG Fir for the bulk of my build. Easy to source, incredibly strong for its weight, and more rot resistant than the only other VG I considered, Hemlock. Most building supply places stock VG Fir, but for a large project like this you will likely need to...

BLM Proposes New Fee Increases in the NW Oregon

Actually three... Closure. Which is becoming more and more common as it is a WHOLE lot easier and cheaper to "manage" a so-called public land by locking it up and posting signage, than babysitting it.

LED Headlight Upgrade vs LED Light Bar

Alignment changing to LEDs will vary based upon housing. For my superduty, I chose to lower them a a bit. They were 100% a drop in, I simply thought the high beams wasted less light lowered a touch. But compared to stock, the output and broad coverage is incredible.

    2019 F350 6.2L 4WD build thread; HPI flatbed, ATO AterraXL composite camper, Carli/King, 37s, 4.88s, etc

lol No worries. IMO, the takeaway is pretty simple in one word Efficiency Design it to be an efficient space to operate and live in. (flow) Design and build it efficiently (low relative cost) Design it to handle road travel efficiently. (low relative weight) Design it to operate...

    2019 F350 6.2L 4WD build thread; HPI flatbed, ATO AterraXL composite camper, Carli/King, 37s, 4.88s, etc

Whats being referred to is often called the "building envelope" Its an overall efficiency rating taking into account the r-value of the entire structure, based upon wall values and window values. Its why triple pane windows have become so popular (residential home construction). In order to...

LED Headlight Upgrade vs LED Light Bar

I highly doubt they are compliant with any lighting regs. But they do perform as claimed. I've had they since 2016, and nothing but good stuff to report. They were the recommended bulb with regard to beam pattern within reflector housings on bulbfacts.com back then. Our superduty runs a 9008...

LED Headlight Upgrade vs LED Light Bar

No reason to not do both. Just be sure when buying LED bulbs to do your homework and buy proper bulbs that are designed to mimic an incandescent. Otherwise all you will do is annoy oncoming traffic, with very little gained. Check out bulbfacts.com Ive got a set of legit led’s in my...

Plywood camper fabrication questions (thinking of idaSho)

Blade that was on it at the time.... :ROFLMAO: most likely a 3/8 6-tpi wood blade that I normally use. Bandsaw is a small but mighty 3-wheeled Inca 710 stationary. 20" throat capacity as I recall. Nothing special about it really, but it cut foam great without the issues you speak of...

Plywood camper fabrication questions (thinking of idaSho)

FYI on cutting essentially any ridged foam... A band saw with a fence on it makes quick work with near zero mess. Also, if you dont have the option of a band saw, a fresh blade on a utility knife does very good, but doesnt get all the way thru, and snapping it may create an undercut. Finish...

Plywood camper fabrication questions (thinking of idaSho)

I casually considered a large press to manufacture the panels I would need. At the end of the day it was simply too involved, too much hassle, and I really counldt afford the space it would require in my small shop. I even considered a wall mounted (to hold the panels vertical) press, but just...

Plywood camper fabrication questions (thinking of idaSho)

With regards to plywood framing, I considered it but its screw/nail holding capability on end grain is terrible. And unless you are paying good money for boil proof, void free ply, IMO you are asking for trouble. The issues with voids and delamination in todays plywood is terrible. Ive been...

Plywood camper fabrication questions (thinking of idaSho)

My build utilized DOW brand XPS foam Every sheet cut/fit and glued snuggly into the framing cavities. A bit of scraps and a bunch of paint stir sticks helped a bit :ROFLMAO:

Plywood camper fabrication questions (thinking of idaSho)

As another poster mentioned, fasteners were more of less used as a method to hold things together while the glue dried. The PL premium I used for the builk of construction requires joints to be "clamped" until cure. So a combination of screws and nails were used for the required clamping load...

Probably close enough but... 6mm (1/4) exterior skin, which includes walls and roof 3mm (1/8) interior skin, again, walls and roof 6mm (1/4) interior floor, both cabover and main floor 13mm (1/2) belly All of which is a 1-1/2" core, using standard 25PSI XPS ridged foam All that said and...

Plywood camper fabrication questions (thinking of idaSho)

I home construction it is sometimes referred to as "frost ghosting" But due to the difference in construction (attic vs no attic) the principles are not quite 100% the same Bottom line, wood is a decent insulator. FAR better than steel or aluminum, but FAR less than any insulation. So it...
