2004 Tacoma vs. 1997 Land Cruiser: Long Term Ownership

doubt that's a huge concern... know many people who wheel 80's with 250-300k miles on them w/ stock arms and bushings

2004 Tacoma vs. 1997 Land Cruiser: Long Term Ownership

3rz will get about the same mileage. I've owned about a dozen 5vze's (3 currently) - you're the first person I've heard describe them as slow. lol And lift/gears - give about 25% of what they'd cost to install. I agree, though... sounds like you've made up your mind.

2004 Tacoma vs. 1997 Land Cruiser: Long Term Ownership

Wow... Seems a bit high for a 3rz/non-TRD, but hard to tell these days.

2004 Tacoma vs. 1997 Land Cruiser: Long Term Ownership

Do you think that particular Tacoma is something you'd write a $10k check for?

2005 Tundra novice build - "The Rez"

Have insurance decided who's paying? If it's all getting turned in, take advantage of the bent axle housing and order up a Diamond. The PO of my xtracab had a similar incident right after I had agreed to purchase (though, his was parked at the time). Insurance spec'd a new rear axle; he took...

Honestly, I think it's too early to tell.

    (partially) new Tundra coming?

Tundra isn't a loss leader, though. Doesn't even fit that criteria, IMHO.

Removing rear seats to increase payload capacity?

well.. you said "easily." And you implied safely by comparing to stock 1 ton. yet ignoring the not-so-subtle differences between 1/2 tons and 1-tons. Frames. Axles. tranfercases driveshaft sizes tow equipment sizes I guess the question should really be: why do you think it's possible and...

    (partially) new Tundra coming?

These days, Ford doesn't have to offer incentives... none do... because supply is so limited. But, to Ford's credit, they do post window stickers on line. So if you do a build, they have an option to search inventory and see stickers. Perfect? Naw... but it's helpful.

Removing rear seats to increase payload capacity?

Good call on the infamous ford steering pump whine... At least it prevented a lot of truck/deer collisions. :D :D

Removing rear seats to increase payload capacity?

Point of correction... My last 2 F350's have had vacuum boosters. The reason most Diesel trucks generally had hydroboost is because they don't create enough vacuum w/o a vacuum pump. Many smaller vehicles have come with hydroboost as well - Chevy Astro van's are great sources for junk yard...

lift block or shackle flip for lifting Toyota truck with camper?

Does it currently have blocks? RoughCountry makes a pretty affordable 2" block kit. I think with blocks and ubolts it was <$75 for my tacoma. I'm not a fan of blocks, but there are times they make good sense. I'd probably do them in this case as to not change the geometry of the leaf springs...
