How miserable is it to drive a RHD "manual" 81?

It's all roses till you slip up and revert back to old habits. Therein lies the concern nagging me in the back of my mind! I like/love living life to the edge but. Takes just 1 mistake - one error in judgment And I'm not thinking just signal light switches and wiper blades snaffus!

How miserable is it to drive a RHD "manual" 81?

Dave - I'm at the edge of my seat. I sat in the passenger seat and tried it out. Tomorrow I'll have someone drive my manual while I shift in the passenger seat. Red90 - You have a lot of confidence in me. But I'm guessing you are probably right. Heading out - I've heard that - But when I test...

How miserable is it to drive a RHD "manual" 81?

I drove my 1st RHD "automatic" 81 yesterday and was pleasantly surprised by how intuitive & drama free it was to drive on the right. To qualify my question - I learned to drive on a manual LHD and still own a few fast manual cars. So - Now that I have been convinced to get a manual for...

Corrosion on Campteq or Alu-Cab Pop-Up Systems

Yes - I have seen the Dirt Sunrise truck tour. Interesting - so the Campteq on yours is just glued to top on your vehicle - So no access from the inside. How much difference in functionality is your setup to a hard shell RTT? For me, the main reason to get the Camptek is to have inside access...

Corrosion on Campteq or Alu-Cab Pop-Up Systems

THX Phil & Willy. Now that I have the pop-top concern to bed - I can move on. So - For South American solo travel I am thinking of either getting a Troopy and not have a pop-top as it has plenty of room inside. Or an 80/81 and install a pop-top. Chances are I will be in a room half the time...

Corrosion on Campteq or Alu-Cab Pop-Up Systems

It was pointed out to me - so I thought I would ask if anybody knows of possible corrosion issues that may have occurred because of the 2 metals in contact after having one of these pop-ups installed over the course of several years? Also any issues with water or dust getting in.

Defender 110, The Ultimate Adventure Overlander Poptop - $40000 (Seattle)

Does anyone have an idea if the pop-up conversions seal from water/dust 100%? Are there any accounts if the pop-up increases corrosion in the attachment area? (someone told me that over the years degradation of that area may occur)

Automatic or Manual Transmission for Expedition Use?

Am looking to buy a RHD Diesel 81 series to turn into an expedition vehicle to go as far as South America. I have the chance to choose a Manual or an Auto Transmission. The manual will be more stout and will likely have more power available and better gas mileage. I have a few cars with a manual...

I don't see much 200 series here, any particular reason?

Having done little 4 wheelin' I was trying to make my way through the minefield of uncertainty as to which LC to buy. Import a 70, get an 80, 100 or a 200. I did a bunch of figuring and I will likely go with the 200. I appreciated all the comments in this thread - this was the type of...

That pretty much what I thought. I bought an f-250 on Monday for my tc650. Any thoughts on what mods I should consider doing to this truck to pair with the 650? I will be installing the Torklift system tomorrow. Thanks

    Tc650 owners-Tundra/Silverado/f150?

cninghm - wow! from a 1/2 ton to a 1 ton. I think you will have much less drama on the road with the 3500. You could be the gal sitting up at the wheel answering the young punk " yup - she's got a Hemi" :). You should consider you tire choice before you negotiate the deal - unless you like the...

    Tc650 owners-Tundra/Silverado/f150?

Thanks for all the input and letting me tag along on this thread, great timing. Ended up getting a White 2015 F-250 SuperCab ShortBox 6.2 Gas 4*4 and it came with Camper Package to boot which adds 300 lbs payload capacity (bonus) (she's a beauty) for my TC650. I"ll have time to break in the...

    02 F350 & Northstar TC650

Just to be clear. The bumpers are only 1.5 inches and the gap is about 5 inches. What did you use to make sure the rubber bumpers touch the front of the box - because you can't move the camper closer to the front because of the wrap will hit you tail lights?

    02 F350 & Northstar TC650

Nice set up. I'm in an F-250 SC SB as well with a NorthStar TC650. I am waiting on a Tork Lift mounting system to mate the pair. What did you do to compensate for the larger gap between the front of the camper and bumpers the would push up against the front of the box?
