Experiences with Overland Vehicle Systems RTT?

This RTT looks identical to the iKamper from Korea that many Chinese companies have been copying. I chuckle as I write this - the Chinese are copying Korean products!!! I think OVS awning products have been used by quite a few folks on Expo, but not sure about their RTTs. Look up iKamper...

    New 270 Awning available.

Congrats dude, it's a nice unit. I used to have a Batwing and it had more coverage than my 270XT, which I loved, but I use the 270XT at a moment's notice w/o a care about the wind (within reason).

How many of you ACTUALLY overland with your 80s or 60s

My 80 is a dedicated wheeling/camping rig and she gets used hard and put away wet, sort of. She ain't pretty but she'll get me anywhere I wanna go with confidence and comfort. Going on 18 years of ownership, and she turned 300,000+ few months back. She's still young! 17yo daughter is waiting...

    New 270 Awning available.

This is coming from the left field but if you were to install two 180deg awnings, you can make yourself a 360deg coverage by filling in the space in the rear. A DIYer can purchase the correct width fabric, sew on zippers or velcros, then connect the new fabric to the 180deg awnings. Voila...

    Terrapod RTT

It has been close to a decade, I think, the last time I ran this. One of the 80s had a RTT on 2.5"/33"s. I can't recall if we had to do the ballast thing but I'm on 35s/3" with a craptastic amount of weight on the roof. Guess I'll find out!

a new tent, but which one?

My Autohome Columbus RTT is going on a decade old and the wall material still rocks to this day. I don't own a newish tent so I'm not sure if their material is thinner/different than my RTT but I'm happy with whatever material Autohome is using. Only the oldtimers, such as myself, will be...

    Terrapod RTT

Unfortunately, I'll be doing that exact trail with my setup and quite possibly poop my pants!!!! Thankfully I built my sliders with rub rails that are great for guys to stand on and act as ballasts.

    Terrapod RTT

I have a similar style of tent, Variant by Autohome and it flaps and so will this one, if I were to venture a guess. The pic below shows the slack in the fabric, and the lifting struts are probably maxed out while the side fabric are probably tight. You're right about the weight up though...

wait, you wanna stand up in a RTT and do what exactly? Or, am I reading this totally wrong?

    Terrapod RTT

I love their Solo unit, nice and narrow. I also love their front aero nose, such a smart thing to do in order to cut down on noise and drag. Granted, these things are sitting on top of bricks but still! Curious, can you leave your pillows and bedding inside and close it up? How thick is the...

    Darche 270 hinge/bar loose?

no way, they're using pop rivets? Dang!!! I call the "swing bars" rafters since that's what a home has and it makes sense in my head! If it were me and I paid an arm and a leg for this thing, I'd improve this design. Keep the pop rivets there but install blind nuts or nutserts using the...

    iKamper step pads

iKamper is truly an an innovative company and this is another example. I bought their ladder few years back they're the only ones who has a ladder rung that are comfortable on bare feet. This product sounds like a winner. I'm sure the Chinese will copy this design.

OVS 180 awning mounted on Rhino Rack HD bars

Goog job man. I went the same way with the RTT + 270 awning on four Thule cross bars. No need for a heavy rack that gets the entire space eaten up by a RTT.

    Trailer Brake Requirements By State

That's absolutely correct; a heavy tow rig makes for safe towing. If a friend borrows your trailer and they have a light weight vehicle, the brakes will be much needed. Adding brakes prolly helps with resale (guessing), and it's easy to do. It's a non brainer for me.
