    Which handheld GMRS

I got a set of Midland T71VP3 and both battery life and range have been great - don't really need to charge them for our shorter ~3 day trips (but I could if I wanted - it's just a simple micro USB cable (unlike some other radios)). https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00SLHM6HY

    Fake Rigid lights?

Yeah, I did a few days back, but unfortunately haven't heard back... I tried pinging them on Facebook yesterday too - maybe that'll work.

    Fake Rigid lights?

Hey folks, I recently bought a Rigid SR-Series Pro 30" LED Light Bar (930314) from this website: https://www.pcscustom.com/930314_Rigid_Light_p/930314.htm. After receiving the bar, it's unclear to me if this might be fake and not actually a genuine product. I took a few photos from the sides...

    Avoiding virus during 10-day trip

Not really (but wear UV glasses to protect your eyes). You can easily sanitize surfaces with one of these lamps as the UV will quickly destroy the genetic material (RNA in this case) by inducing photodimeric lesions in the RNA (and DNA for the bacteria that might be around). The light has to be...

    Avoiding virus during 10-day trip

One additional thing to consider if you're super paranoid and want to disinfect food containers and other stuff where you might not want to spray 70% ethanol, get one of these (or similar - just don't get the cheapo ones that may not actually have strong bulbs)...

    Avoiding virus during 10-day trip

Those studies are not representative of how the virus actually spreads (luckily). I know there are several studies showing that the virus is stable for up to several days, but luckily it just doesn't spread that way (for good and for worse). The vast majority of spread is via superspreading -...

    Avoiding virus during 10-day trip

PlacidWaters, given that the virus is primarily spreading via aerosols and droplets, as long as you avoid indoor spaces with a lot of other people, you'll be just fine. When you're indoors (or close to other people outdoors) wear a face mask - get an N95 if you can find one. Use hand sanitizer...

    Best Jeeps for Overland Travel

Since you're not into rock crawling, the WK2 for sure (if you want a Jeep) - it's a great platform and very compliant on-road while being capable enough off-road. Get the hemi and it's far from "sluggish". I'd suggest looking at the Trailhawk with all options + hemi - given how things are going...

mattress for the back of a 4runner?

I bought a custom mattress from Tochta for my Grand Cherokee and it’s been fantastic. Went all out and got a foldable one so I can easily fold it up and store. Pricey, but definitely worth it. https://www.tochta.com/

Which if any overland platform/vehicle sounds like it fits my needs&wants?

You might want to go try out a Grand Cherokee Trailhawk (or get a non-TH if you don't want the air suspension so you can add a lift for bigger tires). Not as capable as what you're looking for, but plenty capable for most things around you (the desert, local mountains, the Sierra, etc.) - only...

    New smaller, more portable WaterPort

I got one of these. It’s way too expensive for what it is, however, it’s nice and 2 gal is perfect for our weekend trips. We have a road shower for longer trips, but it’s a PITA to get on the roof - this one is so much easier.

Falken Wildpeak AT/3W - anyone running them? Opinions?

Another happy customer here - 265/65/18 (SL) on my Grand Cherokee Trailhawk and I gotta say they're about the most perfect tires out there. A tiny bit louder (pretty much imperceptible - I'm very sensitive to noise, so if this is concerns you, don't worry) than the stock Goodyear Wrangler...
