    Cutting OEM windows into Econoline

I do not remember exactly but the reinforcement of the window van is lower, further apart, or is formed with a cutout. In our case the reinforcement blocked the lower edge of the window by about an inch.. for that reason the locking clips on the bottom of the window do not fit. As mentioned I...

    Cabover HMMWV Expedition Truck Project

Any particular reason you positioned the heim joints so far from the double u joint in the middle of your model. This way you might get some bending forces on your steering shafts and possible some vibration.?

    Cabover HMMWV Expedition Truck Project

Very nice choices you made with your design. It is looking great. I am fooling around with a 404 unimog but you are taking this to another level . Johan

1958 Unimog 404 with cabover flex

Some more pics. The next step is removing the back wall of the unimog cabin and experiment with swiveling chairs how the cabin can be made part of the living space. It looks like the rear shock towers are going to interfere with chassis flex but since the rear wheel we'll have to be enlarged...

1958 Unimog 404 with cabover flex

Today was a good day. My brother brought the hands and motivation to give it a try. So we got the old hyster started and we're able to get the bus body loose from the Econoline frame. Tomorrow we will try to place it on the 404. In the last picture...My brother on the right and me on the left...

1958 Unimog 404 with cabover flex

Wazac, To many projects , to little time.. working on our other outfit at the same time, sure most people here have similar problems.. Dory the blue one was once a low floor city bus, now has floor heat, full solarand has gone thru the USA a couple of times..420000 miles. The other, our original...

1958 Unimog 404 with cabover flex

Wow almost a year ago..the donor had become a shed for all kinds of stuff. Cleaned that out and unbolted and cut the last attachment from the body to chassis of the Econoline. Today I made a wooden structure under the roof to lift the body of the chassis with our forklift.. we have 6 ft...

    Cutting OEM windows into Econoline

We installed a side window behind the driver seat in our window less Econoline. There are several issues. The outer skin is not recessed at the location of the window.. in the vans with a window the window is installed flat with the outer skin.. the second problem is that the internal...

19.5 RailRoad steel rims to single out a dually 8 on 170mm $750 for all.

What tires are you planning to run under the Quigley? Our e350 Quigley runs 19.5 at 245 wide and it has some rubbing in turns.. it is difficult to air them down in sand and it has a hard ride.. . I like to run 265 wide..we are at 9800 lbs. Johan

    Quigley Trac Bar Mount UPGRADE!

You are right, I mentioned I think it was designed that way...... We all know that does not mean it works that way.. I personally like what you made and would go a similar route....it was just an observation.. 22 years is a long time.. same time as I have mine.. Johan

    Quigley Trac Bar Mount UPGRADE!

Like what you did but I think it is designed so that the inner bushing on the trackbar cannot rotate on the shaft....that is done with the rubber part inside the trackbar ends. To be able to clamp down on the inner bushing hard enough so that it can't move you need a fine thread high grade bolt...

    Lowly the Lorry. . .

Actually I meant that now the winch forces are transferred thru the sub frame mounts to the real chassis. Johan

portal axle temperature gauge 6 channel

I made the below post at BenzW unimog section but thought it could be useful here. Although I assume there is probably enough cross contamination. Several people have nice temperature gauges for the portals. I was researching and found this pretty nice 6 channel unit with lcd readout, backup...

    1120 AF Build in Norway

I would have connected the tie down to the front of the wheel.. if that front tire rotates 180 degree that tie down will fall of .

    Lowly the Lorry. . .

Lots of progress, very nice. Maybe I missed it somewhere or misunderstand it but what is you reasoning to mount the winch to the subframe?

    Auxiliary fuel tanks

I like the electric pump idea... Then you can pump it back in case you run out. I would not want to sacrifice my spare. It helps also to keep the cog low. I got a transfer flow on our e350 that sits between the spare and the rear axle..used to use that as my wvo tank. On our other e350 4*4...

    Layout dilemma....

Sorry to be late to the show.. large windows is very nice.. mounting them high so you do not have to stoop over while standing is very nice as well. I would be concerned about the structural strength if the wall section above the window gets reduced.. Storage above windows also helps with the...

Possible driveline update OM352A to OM906LA

Sorry, no...but if that spare is from another 906 series truck likely the injector calibration for the unit injectors will not be the same. Johan

Decision Time - Single Rear Tires vs Dual on Ambulance

When we decided on our bus we wanted something relatively nimble.. a srw Econoline bus has 6ft03" width inside, enough for us to sleep in width wise. The bus outfitted with 4x4, solar , tanks, tools and 4 people, two dogs comes in at 9800lbs.. for that reason I went to 19.5" wheels . Depending...
