Scott, "You are on my (mind) list" The holiday shipping crunch has also affected the G-Wagen Magazine, but it should be here any day now. Thanks for offering your help, it is very much appreciated. Also, a big thanks to all of our new subscriber! Afternoon Update: The Magazines have...

    Turbo time update with Pics!

You are right.....the loss of torque is 3.5% per 1" diameter increase of tire size so all together it will a 14% torque loss.

    Turbo time update with Pics!

If you increase the diameter of your tires you will loose approximately 10% on engine power for each 1" in increased tire size. Starting off with the - I do believe stock size - 29" tire and change to a 33" tire you are looking at almost 40% power reduction - from the new turbo 130hp down to...

    Turbo time update with Pics!

Good project to do, the normally aspirated engine with its 88hp is really not very powerful....... I must congratulate you for your decision to complete overhaul the transplant first, while most the people who did the work just dropped that old turbo motor into the G-wagen and run it that way...

Key not turning in the ignition

Scott, the original Mercedes-Benz keys are steel keys, which do not wear as the brass keys do. My locksmith in Germany can cut new keys from an original Mercedes steel blank using the VIN number. With that number he can get the key number from the dealership (if you do not have the Key number)...

    Steel Wheels

That is a very smart thing to do.......but I believe the hub-centric mounting is quite important - even when used just on a trailer. Remember when using steel rims and if you Gwagen is a W463 those steel wheels might interfere with the steering tie rods (ends) at the front axle's hub knuckle -...

    Steel Wheels

For our MBUSA G-500 the standard ET is 43mm while the European G-wagen feature most the mag wheels with ET 63mm - steel wheels should be similar. The clearance depends on your tire size (rubbing on chassis or body), I do run 295/75 16 BFG tires on the 7.5" x 16 Atik wheel (ET63) but with 30mm...

    New 2009 G550, 2009 G55 or 07 G55 for trips?

Thanks for your kind words..... I believe it would fit the G55 in that case - but I have not installed one yet - the use of our BR-bracket would allow you even to reinstall the original Bling-Boards:Wow1:

    New 2009 G550, 2009 G55 or 07 G55 for trips?

ChuckB, the exhaust parts for a G500, catalysts and so on are real expensive - don't even want to check on the G55 exhaust system. I would be a bit weary to do a mod here. The rock slider (Rockmeister) I designed is a heavy duty & solid touch down protection. They are installed level with the...

Michael, I have to correct you.......the rear-seat seat-backs are folding perfectly forward & flat and together with the platform giving you a real nice sleeping area. If you move the front seat forward you'll end up with a 76" long and around 48" wide bedroom Sorry, don't speak de language...

    Pics of expedition outfitted G's

Michael you are funny..... The sleeping platform/storage shelf doesn't need to be extended. The rear seat back rests are folding perfectly forward and the platform design just adds the flat area in the rear. The system consists of multiple panel bolted together with metric stainless steel...

    New 2009 G550, 2009 G55 or 07 G55 for trips?

Jim, you must realize that the newer vehicles like a G550 have a ton of electronics - just not only to run but for all the stuff they are outfitted with. Why do you think the G550 with its seven speed transmission feels so powerful - there are multiple computers running the show to the smallest...
