DIY camp kitchen kit from Pelican 1560 (pics and a question)

Thanks. Yes, black coroplast with selfadehsive 1/8" foam. MUCH cheaper than the stuff from Pelican! And easy to assemble. I used weed barrier staples to pin the pieces together through the coroplast holes on top.

DIY camp kitchen kit from Pelican 1560 (pics and a question)

Would love to just use the molle panel, but I need the full depth of the lid to make it all fit. I think the screw mounts are proud if the lid by at least 1/2" plus the thickness of the panel and molle attachments. Was going to avoid harcore glueing in for the velcro, but maybe that's the best...

DIY camp kitchen kit from Pelican 1560 (pics and a question)

Building a new camp kitchen storage kit from a used Pelican 1560. Old kit was a Frontrunner Wolfpack. The small amount of extra room in the Pelican allows me to add some DIY dividers to keep things better organized. For small items I plan to velcro in a few of these zipper pouches from Blue...

Need help validating my simple 12v trailer power setup?

The dometic draws around 4 amps I think when running and I've seen some calcs that suggest a good average is about 1-2 amps per hour (cycling on/off in moderate temps). The battery is an Interstate SRM24 81 amp hours. Which may be too small for what I need.

Need help validating my simple 12v trailer power setup?

Something is wrong with my system. I'm getting a battery over discharged error on my Reneology solar controller after only about a day or two on a full battery. I ran a test this week to see how long I can expect my batt and solar panel to run my fridge while camping and see if the system is...

Need help validating my simple 12v trailer power setup?

Thanks, this is really helpful info. Sounds like a very similar setup to mine. I plan to add a smaller solar 'trickle' charger to plug in at home and I guess that will handle batt maintenance and countering the draw from (I'm guessing) the solar charger. I may add one of those small batt...

Need help validating my simple 12v trailer power setup?

Thanks! So there is no load from any of the accessories, LEDs are off and the fridge is not attached, plus everything runs to a switch panel in the trailer box that is off anyway (see pics from instagram link in the OP). The solar controller does have an active LCD panel that is always on so...

Need help validating my simple 12v trailer power setup?

Need a little help vetting my very simple 12v power set up for my little Venter trailer: I've installed a small battery box with 12v deep cycle battery (Interstate SRM-24). The batt is connected to a Renology Wanderer solar charge controller which feeds power (when connected) from a portable...

Running solar charger cables through trailer walls to outside??

If ampacity means amps out from solar panel, it's 5.5a amps (https://www.rockpals.com/products/rockpals-100w-foldable-solar-panel). I think the SAE stuff will be fine for now and I can upgrade later. Thanks for all the brand names though. I'll file these away for later work.

Running solar charger cables through trailer walls to outside??

ok, I have one from an old project, but looks like it might be 12 awg wire. Think that's ok? The solar panel is only 100 watt and I don't plan to add any more. FWIW, 12 awg is what's going from the charge controller to the batt now.

Running solar charger cables through trailer walls to outside??

And then just an adapter from the solar panel cables to that port? Looks nice and tidy, just what I was looking for. I think I may even have one of those in my electrical odds n ends bin! Thanks.

Running solar charger cables through trailer walls to outside??

Need some help with wiring my solar charge controller from a closed trailer compartment to the outside, so I can plug in my solar panel without having to open the hatch. For ref picture son the trailer in question see this thread...

OzTent purchase through Target or Walmart?

Anyone here have any experience with ordering an OzTent through Target or Walmart online? I'm looking around at different options and I keep seeing the lowest prices from either Target or Walmart, but through partner companies. Not sure how reliable this is, but could save a decent amount for...

Other fast deploy ground tents besides Oztent and Gazelle?

This is basically where I'm at. Nothing else really competes with them on design and quality IMO. Trying to decide between the RV-4 and the RX-4. But they're expensive! I really like our little RV-3 and was reluctant to get rid of it but will probably be posting it for sale on the forum soon.

Subaru Outback DIY rear camper setup - video

Stumbled across this video on YouTube yesterday. Posted by a guy named Chase Christopher, who I think is a firefighter in Idaho. He travels around for backcountry camping and mountain biking in his mostly stock Subaru OB 2016 and has created a really clean and functional camper install in the...

    Preferred OZ Tent re sellers?

Getting ready to trade in our OZ Tent RV-3 for the RX-4 Deluxe with enclosed screen room. Does anyone have a preferred vendor they like? Current retail is around $1300 on OZ Tent US site, but I know I've seen it for less in the past few months. Thanks. David

Other fast deploy ground tents besides Oztent and Gazelle?

I've noticed this as I've been looking around. Overseas Colemans seem to have better fabric and use the soft but thick vinyl floors I like. No idea why that wouldn't be an option here.

Basic bare bones solar power controller?

Not sure, whatever is enough to keep a 12v deep cycle charged up while in storage (months at a time unused). Need to look into this today, but I'd guess between 5 and 10 watts. The idea is to mount this panel to the top lid of the compartment over the batt and use it to maintain the batt in the...

Other fast deploy ground tents besides Oztent and Gazelle?

We use ours as a kids spare tent or to loan out to friends - so nobody gets my OZ Tent :P It's fine for a cheap instant tent. But it has that crinkly woven tarp material as it's base, and maybe it's just me but I hate that stuff in tents. It makes so much noise when you're in the tent moving...

Other fast deploy ground tents besides Oztent and Gazelle?

Another one, Explore Planet Earth's Speedy Earth 4. Similar design to an OZ Tent. Looks a little deeper overall. https://pin.it/1oKxuqj https://www.exploreplanetearth.com.au/tents-new/speedy-earth-touring-tents/speedy-earth-4-person-tent
