My 550 build The "Ford Escape"

Got some deliveries today, The undermount box is a Chinese made and isn't super heavy duty but the door seals good. I'll put a piece of 1/2" treated plywood under it to give the bottom a little more strength. The buyers brand version was $1200.00 and this one was only $200.00

Got a bit done today. Cutting and welding all the angle plates tomorrow. Cutting and tapering the 8" channel was a PITA!

Well, I got the two mounting brackets "Almost" done. Just putting a new roll of wire in the Mig welder, and the calls came in. 12 hours, 3 calls and 2 medivacs later and I got home. Let's see if today is more productive!

Another, another which wheel. MRAP on a 550?

I have cut out Bushwacker fender flares to install. I'm going to go to western Canadian Rockwell and test fit some wheels. Issue with his MRAP wheels is I also have to buy the adapter plates and bolts for each wheel. Aluminum MRAP would be over 700 a wheel. I could get 1st Attack specifically...

My 550 build The "Ford Escape"

I had been planning to buy a Move bumper kit for the truck but with our exchange and the border closed I would have to pay crazy shipping to get it here. I was planning to drive to a border outlet and pick it up. Price to just get it here would be over $1700.00 so I'm building one from scratch...

Are they 8 hole like in the link you sent? Did you have them on your truck at one point?

Cupboards on the bed are done, final trim up top too. Got the oak trim on the boot rack. Got a temporary dinette table built while I wait for my daughter to build the Hickory permanent one. Going to be 1 1/2" thick like a butcher block. Just need to finish the FRP in the bathroom and the inside...

    Brophy aluminum folding scissor steps?

I got mine from a place called Metal Supermarket. It's called channel grating and I just cut it in 24" lengths. Here is a link to a place that has it from a google search. You should be able to poke a few metal suppliers and see if they can get you some...

    Brophy aluminum folding scissor steps?

Mine aren't folding but my entry door is 48" off the ground. I bought aluminum deck stair stringers and used aluminum extruded stair treads. For me in Canada the stairs you mention in your posts above are close to $600.00 once shipped and with exchange. I hang these ones on the back of my box...

Building our box out of wood?

My dad built pretty well what you're thinking on an old 5th wheel trailer frame. He put an RV rubber roof skin on the roof for water proofing. He had painted plywood on the walls outside but eventually he bought rv siding to put over the plywood, watertight and has worked well for over 10 years...

Why not use a dry van box?

Have a look at my thread. It's an old Uhaul. On the Other Expedition Camper category there are a few builds. Java has a nice F450. There's another fella turning a dry van box into an over the cab build by notching out the front.
