Where is the best location for the cutoff switch? Should it be just between the hot wire from the batteries to my 12 volt fuse block. That way all loads are disconnected from the batteries?

Party Rated: Our Ram 5500 budget build

Good point If I was building the overcab part you're exactly right that a side by side North south orientation would be much better! If building it from scratch then 5' wouldn't be much more work than 3.

In my uhaul box the overcab is only 34" inside so I am building a 20" "cupboard" bulkhead inside. This will give me room for a full size 54" mattress. I just started that cupboard bulk head this weekend and have pics on my build page. I think the overcab could be done at your stage pretty...

My 550 build The "Ford Escape"

I got two cabinet carcasses done. The one wall isn't true so will need to do a little trim work. These two are going to be part of the bed. The one on the right will have the batteries and all the inverter and wiring goodies. Got the fresh water tank mounted and the filler mostly plumbed. (Gabe...

1993 Revcon Trailblazer - Project Overhaul

Wow 110 degrees! Being in Northern Canada I can't imagine that. My build halts over the long winter as it's -30- 35. Weather is our enemy but opposite ends of the spectrum. The construction is coming along great though, good job!

My 550 build The "Ford Escape"

It's Canada day long weekend here so It was a very busy 3 days for our rescue team. Finally found some time this afternoon to do some work and keep my sanity! I got the last piece of 1/4 ply on the ceiling, put a new latch on the outside of the door to hold it open. Also cut the hole for the...

When you shorten your box will you be able to cut the extrusions the sides are mounted in and just kind of sandwich it back? Are you planning to remove the rear doors or leave them as a garage? Mine were shot and I didn't want dust issues so removed them and closed in the back.

    SRW 450 Mountain Build

I'm going with 1st attack wheels on my 550. I have an 8 bolt pattern. I guess new tires aren't so bad here $565 US in Canadian is $740!

I can't comment on a 5500 chassis, as I have a 550. I had to weld in new 3X2" tubing onto my Uhaul subframe. That subframe sit's on a treated 2X4 between the subframe and my frame rails. My box is held to my subframe by 4 mounts that have rubber blocks (hockey pucks) between them to give some...

    SRW 450 Mountain Build

How used are the MPT 81's and what were they worth? In Canada they're $700.00 a tire new and no used ones around.

Two things to consider with your floor. If you have the headroom, I didn't mine is only 6' 2" tall inside, you may want to put rigid foam on the floor then a flooring. I stay foamed the underside of my floor to save head room. You can put down a nice laminat floor. We're using click n go cork to...

Yup, right forum. If you check my build I put 3/4" plywood strips on my walls on 12" centers. I have a corrugated design on my box. This gave me about 1.5" of insulation. I spray foamed mine myself. I put 1.5" rigid insulation on the ceiling. It was flat so was easier to do. I also live in...

Check out my build. I'm mid way. I used a U-Haul box. You can shorten the back and get an aluminum tubing put in then sheet it in with Al. That's what I did.

My 550 build The "Ford Escape"

Been making some progress. I have all the interior sheeting done except 1 sheet!. Would have gotten that done but had to respond to another backcountry rescue yesterday afternoon. The exposed foam in the corners is because the box has rounded aluminum extrusions for corners. My cupboards will be...

220, 221 whatever it takes! (Think back to the Michael Keeton movie "Mr. mom). I really had no idea there were different types. I bought the Xantrex because of a little reading and a few youtube RV videos, ease of installation. I got a good deal on it through a friend who works at a car...

Good information! Thanks very much. I'm at the point in my build where I will be starting to do all the main wiring. I have all the solar panels and inverter/charger, but haven't pulled the trigger on the solar charge control or ACR. Also need to do an Amazon order for all the buss blocks, fuse...

I was thinking that since I'm running the golf cart batteries as a 12 volt set up that I would charge them as a 12 volt system the same as the engine?
