You might want to add a tubular rub rail system along each side, that stands off from the body an inch or two. It could be used as tie down points also if you need them.

Maybe something similar to this...

Yea I thought about it, but I dont know that it would really help. The sides and front are already 1/8" aluminum. So plenty srtong, my worry was the awning, and the fans and solar. The branches would still rub down both sides.

Just beauty marks. Adds to the character.
Yeah I ripped up the vinyl pretty good too....

What brand are your stairs? Do they fold up underneath the door or detach?

They are Brophy steps, they hang on a bracket under the door and detach. I store them in the tool box just froward of the tire.[/QUOTE]

Awing = tree magnet.

I pulled mine off until I can find a way to realistically protect them from branches and that is in the desert. I shudder to think what abuse yours go through. A pole saw comes in handy for us (just a few trees to trim) but that would be days of work for you.

Yeah.... Mine has branches stuffed behind it.... May need to make a "ramp" of some sort at the front and back.

Buddha.

Finally in expo white.
I’ve seen people place black corrugated “drainage” pipe over their rolled up awnings after making a cut down the length so it’ll open up. I think that was just to keep the sun off it.
Maybe there’s a way to do it with caps on the ends.

Camping World and probably Amazon, sell white semi-rigid tubing that is split along it's length and comes in 3' sections. The idea is, you start at the back of the vehicle with the first piece and then overlap the next section, and the third, etc. That only works for awnings like the Carefree or other models that roll away from the vehicle body on vertical arms. It won't work on models like Gabe has, where the housing of the awning is mounted directly to the body of the vehicle.

It's true, my old rv had the round style awnings, it had aluminum covers for the frost wrap. Nice to have. Mine just easy branches in the gap.... Will need a solution eventually. The hard part is it's literally tight in the space, over the window frame and at the back edge of the truck.

Brush guard ? How close is the door frame to the awning housing ??Just need something to guide the stuff out and around the housing. Mini roll bar ? Need to do that on my truck but have not started on the guard for the cab yet.

More little project trying to get wrapped up before the NWOR.

Old water pump, LOUD, from a 20 year old RV, free from my garage during the initial build.

New water pump, sold as "quiet" still a diaphragm pump, I was worried it would be similar loud. It was not free, it IS QUIET! But the water pulses a bit, may look into an accumulator tank eventually, but my god its so much QUIETER! (yes its crooked, no I dont care right now.... I was not making new flex lines.)

Something like this ? Made out of 1/2" tubing ? Could run the length of the awning ? Not sure if their is room for the support between the window and the awning ?

Definite possibility. I like the full length idea, protect the awning all the way down! A piece of foam or something may even be enough, just need to keep the branches out of that gap.

Getting somewhere.....
48091949003_1dd8b450ac_b.jpg

Now the hard part..... Cant be tight as the truck moves, looks worse in the pics....More staples.
Those ribs on the back wall didnt help at all with no stretch fabric....

Switch panel and power by the bed came out ok though, no more wires hanging out of the wall.
