JKU / JLU as a family travel vehicle

Family of four here, and we've had thousands of adventure miles in the JKU. I do have a roof rack to transport additional boxes up top, plus an RTT for the fam. This allows me to keep the essentials in the rear cargo. A jeep is a compromise so all depends on how you plan to use it. Other...

    JLU worth car payments?

i'd go where your gut tells you. Seems like you want a JL but just despise paying monthly, but hey if you can afford it and put a smile to your face and your future family then go with it. Only advice i have is limit the number of babies if you want to hold on to that Wrangler long.

    Batwing Awning Pros & Cons?

I opted for the driver side opening. I use this primarily when camped and given that the jeep swings out to passenger side, it makes most sense to have the awning on the most usable space i have. Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk

    Sequoia Stealth Winch

Also opted to do a hidden winch setup on my 80. It doesnt look as good as your fairlead mount, in fact I botched the cutout on bumper. The 80 has plenty of room underneath that bumper, just needed a univeral winch plate Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk

Ryobi 18 volt fan for tent?

Yes i got one specifically for those hot day camping. I've only really used it 2x on the trail. The last one we camped by the Badlands with 80s temp and zero breeze -- very uncomfortable in an RTT with that polycanvas material. With a spray bottle to add some cooling mist, my family was able...

    Fridge size for Jeep JKU?

Not a popular brand, but i ended up with a Whynter slim 45 (or 42?). I appreciate the narrow width as it leaves space for rest of my gear.

    Roof Top Tents and wind

If you take out the rain fly on the soft shell, that will take care of the flapping noise. The caveat is it only works if you are certain it wont rain :). The problem with the fly is it's not supported tight as you would compared to a ground tent. I dont know why the makers can't add grommet...

Jeep Gladiator Truck Overlander on 40 Inch Trail Grapplers

I saw in youtube that they started with a sport, which totally makes sense. So overall it's just slightly more than the rubicon they say. Which got me excited. Of course once you factor the labor $$$ made me realize i am sticking with my JK haha. Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk

    Easter Jeep Safari accommodations?

You should be able to find dispersed sites around blm area 30mins away from Moab. The area close to canyonlands has plenty, we camped close to dead horse (road heading down to long canyon) and it had spectacular views. Plus you'll have the place to yourself. Pm me if you need more details. Good...

Should it stay or should it go?

I was gonna say get a 200 but then read that you already have an LX570. That vehicle seems to solve all the problems you have with the 4R? Am i missing anything here? Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk

Rooftop Tents - you call that a rain fly!

I've been thru a couple of heavy storms, lightning strikes bad enough i had to get my boys down into the truck. The sides seem to repel the water and there was never any water intrusion. The one recent thunderstorm lasted 3 hours, two passes. The 2nd passed we didnt bother going back to the...

    Sexiest Jeep Ever??

Maybe LR should have just given the rights to Jeep to build the Defender?? I like the potential of the JT so i'll be observing closely.

    Storage Boxes For Your Jeep

The new design on large bin is fully removable lids. But yes they are huge and gets real heavy once packed. I rarely use it for trips. Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk

    Storage Boxes For Your Jeep

I have all their sizes but the small fits perfect when stacked and fitted the way i have in pic. They have a lip/groove at bottom and cover which makes stacking nice. They fit all my pantry needs, even the classic coleman fits. Also since the rear seats are angled, you can fit a medium at...

    Storage Boxes For Your Jeep

Plano boxes. They double as camp chairs. They are pretty light and surprisingly sturdy. You can weather seal the lid in case you plan to keep it outside else you'll get dust all over your stuff. Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk

    Lets talk about camp lights

A collection of headlamps, as they always get misplaced by kiddoes. A magnetic rechargable LED bar i use for mostly kitchen/tailgate section. Use as needed. Coleman lantern. I prefer the natural light, a good substitute for keeping a mellow ambient lighting especially with the absence of a...

Whynter refrigerator just about killing my battery after 12 hours

I have a similar whynter 45 and have no issues with batt getting flat. My batt is still the stock batt, about 1.5yrs old since i had my fridge. I am able to run it more than 24hrs just to see how much voltage drop i get. It drops a bit but easily had juice to start the car. One thing though, i...
