Good Luck Trying to Trade In Your ‘22-23 Tundra ☹️

I still won't be surprised if this spills over to the Sequoia and the new GX550. There's speculation that since it's technically a safety recall, it doesn't apply to the hybrid versions of the V35A (presumably because the battery will allow you to drive to safety when the engine assplodes), but...

I understand all of that. But I live at 7,000 ft elevation and generally camp higher. It's hard to find level, smooth ground. It rains. It snows. Spending a lot of $ on a nice vehicle that can take you to great places makes sense (to me). Paying it to store a ********-ton of stuff in fancy...

    Awning recommendations?

Seems like the closest thing to that Kinsmen monster awning id the Bush Company MAX https://thebushcompanyusa.com/product/270-xt-max-awning-mk2/

Lexus GX550 Overtrail vs. Grenadier or new Toyota Land Cruiser?

What are the odds on whether or not the GX runs into the V35A main bearing issues? I'm on a waitlist for an Overtrail, but I'm inclined to wait a year or so to see how things play out.

Yeah, it looks great. But to pay that kind of coin to set up and sleep in a ground tent? I'm clearly missing the point.

    Scout pop-up

Hard to tell because their website stinks, but that interior looks like it's made with basic materials and RV components from 20 years ago.

Surprised no one is discussing the Cybertruck today.

Now that I've seens a few up close and in the flesh, I can confirm it's the dumbest truck I've ever seen. I 100% agree with the notion that it looks like a giant Kenmore refrigerator on wheels. (No offense to cyber-truckers ;))

swingout ebike carrier installed! anyone running a tacoma pass thru?

Nice setup. What's with the chopper-ish fork rake / trail on that bike??

    Victron Orion XS

I've never really dug into DC/DC chargers. What's the primary camper use case / benefit? Charging from the vehicle battery more efficiently than via the traditional 7-pin plug?

    Awning recommendations?

Do you know where you are? Look around the forums at the six-figure rigs...not sure a $2,500 US-made free-standing awnig merits such shock.

    KDSS Friend or Foe?

It's been on Land Cruisers for 20 years, and people don't seem to think they're too rough.

"Campers" that you can't sleep in

I don't. Or at least nothing relevant to this discussion. I have the the Alto that we chatted about here... https://forum.expeditionportal.com/threads/post-favorite-pics-of-your-rig-and-trailer.31599/post-3173406 But I'm always lobbying to ditch it for something more offroad capable. Wife...

"Campers" that you can't sleep in

We're just using the acronym you came up with - SIOT (Sleep in off-road trailer) in post #4. Don't blame us !:) I actually kinda like it. Sounds better and makes a lot more sense to me than SOOT (Sleep on off-road trailer)

"Campers" that you can't sleep in

Interesting. I live in the San Juans and see more than a few of them being put to great use. Boreas, and hell, Sasquatch trailers made just over the hill from us in Silverton would probably disagree with your "poser" assessment.

"Campers" that you can't sleep in

I read that a few times. And I'm not sure I get it. You mention "SIOT" but also "rooftop tent". My question is why anyone would spend $40k+ for essentially a cargo trailer with overpriced suspension, a $700 fridge, a Camp Partner stove, and a rooftop tent stuck on it -- vs a tiny "camper"...

"Campers" that you can't sleep in

I've been wondering about this for a long time, so I thouhgt I'd seek the wisdom of the portal forums I'm not going to name any brands, but what is the deal with all of the $30k, $40k or higher single axle trailers that just have a bunch of camping gear and a roof top tent bolted onto them...

    portable gas fire pit

I've got the brickette-looking rocks they sell, but haven't used them. Do you just leave them in the thing? Do they make a mess?
