    Easter Jeep Safari Concepts 2015

The full size spare wheel is mounted underneath the vehicle, you can see it in certain pictures. Unless you're referring to the swing gate mounted tire, than I agree, it would be handier. Jim

    Easter Jeep Safari Concepts 2015

The Africa Wrangler also looks like an evolution model of the 1997 Jeep Dakar concept. A 4 door, all steel TJ. Jim

    Easter Jeep Safari Concepts 2015

Yes, the Wrangler Africa concept. Solid body, raised roof, extra interior room, diesel. What's not to like. My vote for production! Jim

    2018 Grand Wagoneers?

A lot of their product is designed to manufactures standards. That is rare in the aftermarket. That is why Jeep has been able to use some of their products on production Wranglers, like the front bumper on certain models. Made it easier for Jeep to recertify. Jim

    2018 Grand Wagoneers?

If the GW is done right it will sell well. What I like about AEV, is that a lot of Jeep engineers left Chrysler during the Daimler years and some went to work for them. Jim Frens and Dave Yegge come to mind. Jim designed AEV's JK lift kits. Jim

    2018 Grand Wagoneers?

More than likely it'll be off the next Grand Cherokee platform. That should be WL, with the wagoneer being WS. No doubt more upscale and higher price. Jim

    2018 Grand Wagoneers?

You're right kojackJKU. I was trying to correct misinformation. Of course we went way off topic of the 2018 GW.

    2018 Grand Wagoneers?

With all due respect to them, they don't know what they're talking about. I just finished 31 years with Chrysler, all at the Arizona Proving Ground. The Renegade has nothing to do with the Panda. The platform and lower architecture is a heavily modified 500L, which in turn is a modified Punto...

    2018 Grand Wagoneers?

Saying the Renegade has anything to do with the Panda, is like saying the Corvette is based on the Sonic. The Renegade was designed and engineered by Jeep, NOT Fiat. The Commander was the same size as the Grand Cherokee, I did not say the GW would be smaller. More like Durango size. Jim

    2018 Grand Wagoneers?

The Grand Wagoneer has been an off and on project for the last few years. It was decided to wait until the remake of the Grand Cherokee. As was indicated in last years five year plan. As far as the Commander is concerned, it's main purpose was as a study in flex manufacturing, it was designed to...

Next Gen Wrangler to Get 3.0L EcoDiesel and 8-speed Auto

Well stated, better than I could have done. I'm not as articulate in expressing myself. Jim

Next Gen Wrangler to Get 3.0L EcoDiesel and 8-speed Auto

Too funny. Always like old Klink. Simpsons did a great parody of him. Jim

Next Gen Wrangler to Get 3.0L EcoDiesel and 8-speed Auto

Of course not, but you can over regulate as well. If the emissions and crash regs, stood pat for a few years, you would be able to work on fuel efficiency more, and burning less fuel equals less pollution. By constantly changing the standards, car companies spend most of their time just trying...

Next Gen Wrangler to Get 3.0L EcoDiesel and 8-speed Auto

Well, everyone, don't blame the engineers too much. The Feds require low sulpher, and all the other equipment to save us all from the bad ol' diesels. And Defenderbeam, for your earlier question on how I got to drive all these export Jeeps. I just finished 31 years with Chrysler, all at the...

Next Gen Wrangler to Get 3.0L EcoDiesel and 8-speed Auto

I have also spent plenty of time driving the export Jeeps with diesels and I find they struggle with highway speeds, low speeds and off road they are fine, around town just keep the r's up and it's okay. The JK is a heavy beast. Jim

Next Gen Wrangler to Get 3.0L EcoDiesel and 8-speed Auto

I can agree with you on that. Most forums I don't even bother to post. This place is like heaven compared to most. Jim

Next Gen Wrangler to Get 3.0L EcoDiesel and 8-speed Auto

A lot of offroad requires just off idle torque and turbos require RPM,s to build boost. Also it has not been stated that the 3.2 would be used. A large enough turbo diesel will produce that off idle torque without boost. A small gas engine with a turbo would be weak on off idle torque and when...

Next Gen Wrangler to Get 3.0L EcoDiesel and 8-speed Auto

Could be an early April Fools Joke, but also FCA has in the past leaked false rumors to smoke out internal leaks. I know of one manager and two engineers that were fired for leaking info on the Hellcat engine. As far as fitting of the 3.0, a lot of problems with things like the brake booster and...

Next Gen Wrangler to Get 3.0L EcoDiesel and 8-speed Auto

The 3.0l V-6 diesel is too wide for the engine compartment. A inline four would make a lot more sense. The current 2.8l diesel used in export is too under powered for this market. Also in regards to IFS rumors, it has been reported that the next Wrangler would stay with live axles. Don't have a...

Renegade concept at Detroit Auto Show

Interesting video. Shows the most important item for vehicles in snow are tires. Looked like Blizzaks, at least on the Wrangler. I like the Renegade and may consider one to go along with my WJ. Jim
