I think ford did, they offer a cheaper fleet option. I know a few municipalities that run f250/f350 trucks to haul/tow light to moderately heavy loads and maby plow a parking lot, the 6.8 will ford fine for that.

I also remember those, I think one of the 1 ton dump trucks with the inline 6 I was around as a child finally died. they did amazingly well for what they were.
