Scott Brady’s weekend with an Earthcruiser

My wife would leave me if she had to drive that slowly. Hmmm.......

Scott Brady’s weekend with an Earthcruiser

It didn't sound like he was too crazy about the highway driving part though. Anyone else have a different opinion. Like most people, at least 95% of my driving would be on the Interstate getting to a location. I don't think I would be happy about not being able to run at least 70 MPH.

Diesel vs gas engine for camping and General purpose

To me, the big difference is the noise of the diesel versus the quiet gas engines. I can start my V10 in the morning without waking the entire campground. Also, in my area, diesel is 20% more expensive than gas, so that eliminates part of the mileage advantage. As others mentioned though, if you...

Cool! Winnebago Sprinter 144 4x4 Adventure Concept Introduction

We finally had a chance to see one of these in the flesh yesterday. Pretty nicely done, but the layout doesn't really work for what we need. Too much RV furniture and not enough storage space. Was hoping to be able to leave the bikes inside the van while sleeping, but with the electric bed...

    Electric FUSO

Not much range yet, and don't see 4x4, but maybe in a few years. https://www.daimler.com/products/trucks/fuso/ecanter.html

Host Camper 4x4 Fuso with slide outs

Thanks for the replies. After looking at their website and Facebook page a little more, it seems their main business is truck campers with slide outs. Still, interesting idea that gives a little more space inside. I also think their Expedition Vehicle is quite a bit less expensive than other...

Host Camper 4x4 Fuso with slide outs

Just happened to find this. Looks like Earth Cruiser or ATW, but with slide outs instead of a pop top roof. http://www.hostcampers.com/product-details-expedition.html

Pass climbing speed on FUSO based campers - EC or ATW

Just wondered what kind of speed these campers can hold on a long uphill climb. Maybe 6% or so for a few miles on a hot day. My SMB E350 with V10 can pull the pass north from Bishop CA on a hot summer day without overheating if I keep it about 59 or 60mph. My SMB only weighs about 8,200 loaded...

    UJOR Build Thread

It is showing on the pre owned SMB North page. Looked like a decent price, pretty well rigged out. Just needs 4x4 and probably spring upgrades. No affiliation, just happened to see it. http://www.sportsmobile.com/preowned-sportsmobile-north-inc/ Steve

    UJOR Build Thread

Good project for UJOR. SMB North has a low mileage 2007 V10 with Contempo top for $35K. Another $15K to UJOR would make a nice rig. 2007 Ford EB-350 EB-42 Price: $35,000 Miles: 20,140 Engine: 6.8L V-10 Seats: 7, Sleeps: 2 Cabinets: Grey Interior Color: Grey Interior Height: 5'8'' Top: Contempo...

TCO: why we deciced not to get a Sportsmobile (yet :-)

Another thing to think about. If you don't go too crazy on the build, you can use it as a second vehicle. I am retired, so I don't need a vehicle to drive to work, but the RB50 SMB is fine for driving around town to the store, etc. So, I can eliminate the insurance, registration, part of the...

ExPo Welcomes All Terrain Warriors as Title Sponsor

Thanks for the responses. Good to know there are at least several out on the road. I have a SMB E350 RB50 with Quigley 4x4 currently, but the extra interior space would be quite nice. Haven't seen the Earth Cruiser yet (except online), but the ATW has a nice open feel to it when the top is open...

ExPo Welcomes All Terrain Warriors as Title Sponsor

Does anyone have any idea how many ATWs or Earth Cruisers have been sold in the USA. We looked at the one on the floor at SMB. Very nice rig, but I just wonder if you are buying a one off in the states.
