I just added a water pump and Eccotemp shower to the trailer. The suction tube pulls the water from LCI water cans. The heater and 2 jugs of water fit in the drawer. There is also a connector to use a water hose instead of the pump if one is available.
Thanks.
Yeah, I bought a folding table from walmart, and then welded some angle iron to the tent rack to make a slot for it. I also extended the rack forward to support the front of the tent using the same angle.
Yeah, Frontrunner's table folds up much thinner to fit under their roof racks...
Well I've decided to put my scout up for sell. We love it but have decided to move to something different. Here's the listing https://expeditionportal.com/forum/threads/scout-trailer-with-cvt-tent-and-air-conditioning.206265/
Thanks to everyone who contributed to this thread with all kinds of...
We're thinking about selling our Smittybilt Scout trailer. We have loved it and have camped 20+ times in the past 2 years. We've decided that we don't need something this rugged for the camping that we are doing.
It's got a CVT mt Rainier extended tent with annex. It's a 3+ person, it fits me...
Great solution!
Keith is correct, it's the extension that causes the problem. Instead of the 1000# being applied 1" from the bend in the hitch you are moving it out about 15". I sketched it up just for future references.
This. ?
I am a mechanical engineer and from first glance that scares me. There's way more moment on the drop hitch you have your adaptor bolted to than what it is designed for. It might hold but i wouldn't trust it.
Dometic 50 fits just right. It touches the back of the back seat and is just shy of the rear gate. I built a box around it to keep things from piling up on top and against it.
If you've already registered it then it sounded like they won't send a vin. I told them that I only got tags on mine with out getting it registered.
That is ridiculous that they are only giving them out to ones sold with tires! That just makes no sense.
Scarstens, just a heads up, the scout is heavy. The dry curb weight on the scout is 1543lbs, so before you put anything in it I think it'll be over the forester's towing capacity.
We did some camping in the trailer last week and had one hiccup. I found that trailers don't like thick sticky mud. The trailer got so bogged down the tires stopped rotating and were just sliding in my tracks like a sled. We winched a couple hundred yards then the road made a turn and started up...
This was the trick. Brass Swivel Nut Valve Connector 45 Degree Flare Fitting, NPT Swivel Nut Tube, (3/8'', Pack of 1) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07H94ZC15/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_y0YdCbAZVBZVR
I couldn't find a female x male flare that wasn't an inverted flare.
The handling characteristics of the trailer would change. It would track closer to the tow vehicle when turning. But backing up would become more difficult as shorter trailers require less input and respond faster. Like @Silverback07 said, I'd lengthen the front receiver as well, for his...
