Guess who's back!?! Atl-atl's K5 Blazer + Four Wheel Camper "The Crawlin Cabin" documentation thread!

Havent done much lately since the RV is taking up all my time. I have been driving the Blazer quite a lot which is fun. The other day I was pulling into a parking lot with an abnormally high curb and the wheel was turned just the right amount that it snagged the drivers 1/4 panel just behind the...

Well I dumped at least a quart but probably two on my buddies driveway today. Who knew transmissions were top heavy. Thing literally tipped over just sitting there on the ground. The remaining fluid drained out the trans cooler fittings. ?‍♂️ That being said, the transmission is out. Thank...

Starting to get spicy in here. Picked up the front spring hangers today and got them installed. Also chopped out the exhaust, pulled the wiring harness and misc. items off the trans in preparation for its removal, deleted the rear driveshaft, deleted the old poop toob holder which netted me...

    "One Less Sprinter" Econoline Build

Maybe, just maybe, if the only snow you drive on is plowed roads or snow less than 6” deep 2wd with chains could be better but if you are trying to go offroad under any conditions, 4wd is better. If you were right, there would be no 4wd vehicles in the world.

Alrighty, here come some updates! Looks like it will be pretty easy to access the bellhousing bolts so I can remove the trans ? Got the winch all done. Had to trim the headlight bezels and the bottom of the grill so I could push the bumper all the way up where it looks best. Still...

Interesting, thanks for the heads up. We are not going to be full timers after our first big trip so it hopefully wont be a problem. Im also willing to pay for added ground clearance and if that means a new dump tube every couple years, so be it.

Here we go!! Finally got the RV up to Flagstaff to get to work. The pallet from UJoint showed up and I got everything inventoried and then managed to install the front spring hangers which are supposed to be the biggest pain of the whole job. These arrive in raw steel because they have to be...

Well my pallet full of @ujoint goodies showed up a couple days ago. Havent even had time to inventory everything yet but Im really getting excited now. Tuesday the RV goes up to Flagstaff to start the tear down. I still need to order the parts for the 4WD conversion of the 6R140 transmission...

Ill be running 35x12.5x17 Toyo Open Country AT3 E load rating. They are rated to 3195 per tire. Gross weight of the rig when I weighed it was 8460 so add 1150 worth of gear and Im still at my personal limit of 9600 on only 3 tires. It will be interesting to see what it truly weighs fully loaded...

Well the interior is just about done. I installed all the new lights and painted the misc. ceiling bits in anticipation of the final ceiling material arriving this week. Finished the kitchen with a new faucet, caulked in the counters, wall papered almost the entire expanse of bare walls which...

Next up was finally installing the headlights. There are precisely zero 08+ Ford Econoline vans in junkyards around Phoenix which makes precisely zero sense given that Phoenix is the 5th largest city in the country. Needless to say I was unable to find the stuff I needed for the headlight swap...

Good to know that youre an RV tech, I might have questions in the future! I tried using an oscillating tool but it was actually easier to use a crowbar to scrape the majority off then go to the wheel. Ive seen a few RV full interior refreshes online but never in person. Seems like most people...
