Watch for the Warn Rebates. They can be substantial ($150 -$300).
A winch is something that should last a lifetime with reasonable care. So think about how long you'll have that size of vehicle, and divide the cost over years of ownership.
I've recently had the opportunity to use two...
Doobie Brothers Toulouse St. is another good one.

I put a similar player in my Dad's work truck, back in the '70s. We spent our summers, and weekends working together. Listened to a lot of music from that truck. :)
Just checked eBay. There are...
Think this is a great idea! :)
Went to vote, but it requires a Gaia account.
I don't use Gaia, so couldn't vote, or leave a comment.
Hope they incorporate this for you all.
Got to love the period correct farkles! :victory:
Another one of my favorites is the US map window sticker, where the kids colored in each state as they went.
What is the advantage that keeps bringing you back to them over something else?
I doubt mine has ever been below 0*F, but it has seen some serious windchill, and has been hit a time or two by something thrown up from the vehicle in front.
Really like this idea.
Thanks for the write-up.
Even though I have a dual band radio, the ability to do this off the radio is a big plus.
I'm going to look into duplicating this for my rig.
Thanks again for posting up your build.
The '07 Ram 2500 4x4 CC-SB (140" wheel base) has a better break-over angle than my '14 Rubicon did stock.
I tried this same obstical in the '14 Rubicon when it was stock, and hit the fuel tank skid plate several times. Where the truck didn't hit anything, until the end of the return trip down...
I listened to a guy from Georgia talking on a Kenwood TH-D74A hand talkie to a guy in South Korea through D-Star.
So don't feel you can't do mobile. :)
the ID-5100 has auto dimming, along with brightness control and contrast.
That said the contrast between background and letters when dimmed is just OK, in my opinion. I have also *read* that the display does not like to be overheated, like in a windshield install. I can't comment on that...
I'm looking forward to when they are available for the press to drive.
This segment seems like the revival of the U.S. Muscle Car back in '05. So far it's been so cool with GM hitting the competition square between the eyes.
Hope the Ranger is a "player". :)
How awesome would it be to have...
I would look at this three ways:
1). Local ham radio club (https://www.google.com/search?q=Ham+radio+club+in+Salt+Lake+City&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&client=firefox-b-1)
2). Local 4WD clubs...
What do other's in your area use?
I recently installed the ID-5100. I'm more of a user than a radio hobbyist, and it is the simplest radio for me to "use".
That said, it seems all the new radios from major mfgs are pretty dog gone excellent. There are some great reviews on YouTube and...
Yeah different groups have different requirements. I keep a CB and a Ham radio in the vehicle.
At EJS back in '14 the trail leader & his wife, for Top of the World trail run, burned up the airwaves with their CB, telling us the history of the area.
Man, they were so knowledgeable, and fun to...
I've bashed mine through trees, dropped it off the roof loaded and unloaded with stuff. Definitely has some scrapes, but no damage. Not sure where the "fragile" thing came from. Unless they are talking about when the box is open, and has no support. I can tell you from real world experience...
The tall Yakima Rocketbox mounted vertical to work like a "Ski Vault" would be my choice.
This way everything stays nice and clean inside. Carve a foam block to hold everything in place.
Craigslist is a good place to find them used. Picked one up a few years back for $100.00
Maybe they just don't like the mid-west...
Can you link a url to this?
They just bought TAP last year.
I read they shut down Victory Motorcycles in Spirit Lake, IA, and their slingshot plant in Milford, IA, but hadn't heard about TAP.
