Why isn't anybody but Aluminess making a side ladder?

I spent a good few hours today at Class V Adventure Gear with my buddy Jesse. We got his fancy angle measurement thingy out and drew up a design. He is going to build me one and give me a friend price on it, so it will be cheaper than the Aluminess one for me. However, I admit defeat. That...

The Fun Hog Build Thread: 2007 Chevy Express AWD

You have been keeping an eye on CL for a used full size roof/ladder rack, right? You plan looks awesome with the 80/20, but I did just come across a full size rack for $250 used on CL. Just picked it today from powder coat and I'm in it less than $500. All smiles for me today.

Why isn't anybody but Aluminess making a side ladder?

It's all good. I felt like I had to defend my honor in that I do actually own a grinder and I wouldn't need to factor that into the cost of building my own should I chose to do so. No hard feelings.

Why isn't anybody but Aluminess making a side ladder?

That guy has a ton of videos! Will watch some later today as I continue to convalesce. Shea, yes I would love to update my build thread but I can't sit and type for more than 10 minutes at a time. I need to be either be flat on my back or walking around the for the next two to three weeks...

Why isn't anybody but Aluminess making a side ladder?

It appears I have struck a nerve with this post for some folks. First, being a small business owner I very much understand margins, the need to keep and retain talented people and overhead in general. In the big scheme of things and the scope of cost for the build I am working on, no $400...

Why isn't anybody but Aluminess making a side ladder?

Sure, the Aluminess is great. But $412 worth of great I'm not so sure. With all of these new custom van companies popping up, somebody has to be working on a good $150-$250 option. I sure haven't seen anything new surface yet. I'll be first in line for a nice side ladder that is a little more...

If I had this whole thing to do over again, I'd pass on the three vans I have gone through and start with this exact body. I'm not a fan of ambos cause you can tell they were an ambo. This is different but still has the quality, space and function of an ambo. I dig your ride Bikersmurf.

    Light bar vs spot lights.

+1 on upgrading the main lights first. My brother has Vantage in his and they are freaking incredible with a perfect cut off line so as not to offend oncoming drivers. Of course he also has a 40k lumen light bar on top of those. I'd be happy with just the vantage.

Thanks for backing me up Scotty. This is the stuff I wish I was told before buying a van. Finding the right one doesn't happen in a week, a month, or sometimes multiple months. One of the things I wish I had done was check in on the vans for sale thread every single day for about six months...

That data tag says 3.55 gears. If it had limited slip it would say 3.55 L. So what you have is a 3.55 with an open diff.

I got the driveline shop to move faster with a 30 rack of PBR. No kidding. I jumped like 30 jobs to get mine in for a pinion angle adjustment.

Albert - Class B Grampa Van Build

The first van I bought didn't have power anything. I didn't convert that one after realizing what a PITA it was to walk all the way around that vehicle and manually lock and unlock doors. That right there is a deal breaker for me. I tried to add cruise and could have accomplished it, but...

Not So Subtle E350 Shuttle - 100% Satisfaction Guaranteed

Im interested to hear reviews of those taller and softer front springs. I am wondering if they will 1. give more tire clearance from rubbing and 2. possibly increase the up travel distance of the axle in rough terrain and/or increase articulation. I haven't been out to do the obligatory max...

I feel your pain with the bent axle. Been there done that and it sucks. You're gonna love this thing Gregor. It drives so nice. Is the electric locker in the rear as simple as a SPST switch to apply power to the axle? Maybe a few wires for an indicator light? I am happy with my...

It was late and I thought I read 4x4. That van does have quite a lot done to it and certainly more than $4000 in parts. Probably a good deal for 2x4.
