I love the front bumper. I have never welded before but I think my project will give me to opportunity to do so. For a few bucks, I can screw it up and scrap it if I hate it. Then I'll just kick the money to Ujoint for their fancy one.
I'm not sure if I have commented in your thread before...
The past few years it was used as a daycare kid transporter. It really is amazingly clean and fresh smelling considering the past few years of use. I slept really well last night knowing I have a way better starting point for this conversion.
I've never been excited about my "starter" van. 1998 E350 EB V10 cargo with a ton of miles and use as a cargo van. It is in the config I wanted but the huge repair bill 24 hours after I bought it just to get it back to Idaho left a really sour taste in my mouth. I just didn't have that warm and...
Sweet! Glad you are doing a thread for your build! I'll be starting one for mine with all the stuff that has happened once the MG/UJOR kit is installed and it's up in the air. I'll document the 4wd part as it happens.
Good luck with your build! I'll be following along and doing my own!
I've never been excited about my "starter" van. It is in the config I wanted but the huge repair bill 24 hours after I bought it just to get it back to Idaho left a really sour taste in my mouth. I just didn't have that warm and fuzzy feeling to sink all this money in it. Yesterday up pops a 97...
I'm buying ANOTHER freaking van tonight at 6. I'll be by after that with my new toy. My little brother, Petrolburner, happens to be in town and he will be along as well. Sans van however.
If everything goes according to plan, I should be doing the conversion with Shenries help the week of October 24th. Then the first MG DIY kit will be done and another cheerleader for this kit will have something to say. I can't wait! Now if that Sterling rear axle would just get here....
Agreed. The other curse is being new to a forum with a low post count and no signature where people may make assumptions about your knowledge level and background. Many times those assumptions are wrong as they were in my case when I commented on your post. I am always happy to share my...
All the information in your second post would have been highly useful information to share in the first post to shed light on the angle you were coming from. Good on ya if you can get 'er done for that! I can't.
Allow me to enlighten you. Can you do it cheaper than I have? Probably. However I've cheaped out on stuff earlier in my life and regretted it. Not this time and not with this project. I will rely on this van for my life for where I plan to take it.
Here's what I got in mine so far.
2015 F250...
As long as 18awg is big enough for what you plan to do, sure. It looks like a great product. The other downside I see is all wires start and end in the same place. I think that would be a pain to make legs and different destinations. Personally, I'd just run twisted pair.
This.^ My van needs to function for my business with minimal downtime this time of year. Eventually the biz will buy its own van and mine will be just mine. Plus, I am doing it in my driveway with a bit of a slope. If the back gets a 6" lift plus the big tires, it will level things out a bit...
I have a similar mess going on. I have a 98 van. I am pulling the booster, MC, more advanced abs module and wiring out of a 2000 parts van. That is going in my 98. It's getting MG's conversion up front with the massive discs that are on the 2015 front axle I have. I am also installing a Sterling...
