I think SkiFreak is on to something...both ATW and EC use spring mount systems. I noticed this on FX model I test drove. Did not flop around like my 3 point mount (I need to engineer or have engineered some mechanism to control/shock the load)
Lance, G'day to you as well. I about had a heart attack when I realized that the 2007's had a short wb model. That would have been disastrous. I think I found a shop to do the swap, but they are clearly a little nervous...Once they see the trucks, I think they will be ok. Thanks for note on...
@dzltoy, why do you think the Unimogs use 3 pt mounting systems from the factory? I have a 2004 Fuso that "flops" around as you note on a 3 pt forward pivot system. I suspect that it relieves all of the torsional stress that would normally be transferred to the camper. But I am not an engineer...
@whatcharterboat, John you raise a really good question. When I was buying this Fuso, I neglected to check if it was a long or short WB. My box is only 13' so either will work. I guess I will learn more next weekend when I pick it up in Bend OR. Thanks for the reply and acknowledgement of the...
@drifterdan - do they have 2007s? Not that I need another one, but just curious. I found a 2010 in Belgrade on Jackrabbit Lane...good condition, CO plates and 99k miles. Wonder if that is the same rig?
Does anyone know if the mounting holes and frames of a 2004 Fuso FG 649 are the same as a 2007 FG? I just bought a 2007 truck with 13K original miles and no rust. I want to move my camper from my 2004 to my "new" 2007. I am contracting a local firm to do the switch over and they are very worried...
try rotating them to see if the problem goes away. I was in the market for a steering stabilizer due to a 50 mph death wobble and difficulty braking...finally took the wheels back for a balance check. They were way out of balance...the shop couldn't figure out how they ever let them out in that...
$33-35K for the 2004's with the Protech alum bed and boxes and no fire fighting equip
$49k for the 2007 with the protech alum bed and boxes and no fire fighting equip
the bed/box combo is probably worth $5k (they are well engineered).
These aren't discount Fusos, but they are well maintained...
The good news is that the factory radio is so poor that you will never want to turn it on. Further there are no known instances of anyone falling asleep at the wheel of a Fuso FG while driving...with stock suspension and wheels, you will hang on for dear life and fear bridge transitions and...
Yes, I know...I can't figure out if craigslist is deleting them or they are expiring. The best bet is to reach out to Scott directly (his email is in the ad thread I put together). If you want to call him, PM me and I will give you his tele.
I just posted some information on 3 pre ULSD, Low mileage fuse's in the "for sale craigslist and others..." There are 2 2004s, and 1 2007. The mileage is incredibly low and they are in mint condition...
Headroom is probably not the best description...I am uncomfortable driving long distances. It is a combination of better placement of the shift (4wd) lever, shifter, more room to maneuver the seat back and a little more glass in the front. The extra room and power of the 2005-2007 was worth me...
2 2004 FG
1 2007 FG (I bought the other one!)
You may have seen these advertised from time to time on Craigslist. They are always posted in remote or mountain state craigslist ads and frequently deleted by the moderator. I decided to track the guy down and take a look at the rigs. It's the real...
Made it to Bend last weekend and spent a couple of hours with Lance and Michelle. They are great people and getting to see their product in the construction phase exposed the additional attention to detail that goes into their rigs.
Inside the FX...
I really like the FX design. I am 6'3" and I...
Heading to Bend OR this weekend. Can't wait to see the EC factory, meet Lance and Michelle, and see some of their builds. May have them convert a 2007 FG. I know they did this for one other expo member. Looks like a nice combo.

@gr8adv - I too have a 2004, but the idea of a larger cab ( I am 6' 3") and more torque sound appealing to me. I would prefer a 2005-2007 model so I don't need to worry about extra exhaust stuff,ULSD or DEF. I have it on good authority that MFTA is going to release a 2017 with a manual and ditch...
