I full-timed for 8.5 years. I “cheated” by checking into a motel now and then mainly to get really clean. Creeks and lakes didn’t cut it after a while. I stayed in a friends house for a few months while recuperating from a mountain bike accident. I also spent a few winters camping in her...
The last photo, is that a fatbike with a Lauf fork? Maybe an ebike? Got plans for that?
I ride a fat ebike and I can say its an absolute blast to ride.

This is what i would do and not a suggestion at all. I’d make the cabin my home and base camp. Get it all set up the way i want it. Then put the camper in the barn. Put some money it the Jeep or buy something new that allows sleep accommodations like the Land Rover with a pop top. But I’d base...
These signs seem like a new policy from the BLM. They seldom placed signs telling visitors how to find tracks and rock art. It just led to more vandalism. So I wonder why the change.
That is some outstanding petroglyphs!

I would expect they have a charge to visit but i didn’t see it listed. Unless its excessive I’d probably give this place a try. Wish it was closer from me.

Here’s a few tidbits of advice. There is essentially no shade in the vendor area. Bring a good wide brim hat. If your a “paleface” I’d go with long sleeves and pants too. If you wear sandals watch the tops of your feet.
If you plan on buying lots of stuff (most do) think about how you might...
Your posts are always interesting and packed with history. I visited Fort Stanton once but it was closed on a Federal Holiday.

You often post ideas that you think are uninteresting to your readers. Let me add to all the posts that say we don’t agree. In the last you fed a homeless woman. A Jeep
mechanic just happened by. Its terrible thinking he and his son were evicted. I know of Mari Sandoviz. I believe i have read...
Great report. I grew up in Upstate NY. Although not that comparable, except the Adirondacks, is was close enough to jog the memory. And I did get do a too short trip through the North Maine Woods about 1979.

Of course just like many have said I truly enjoy your posts and get a little concerned when we don’t hear from you in a while.
I had a thought about your concern for leaving your dogs while you out climbing. Get some sort of monitor that calls when when there’s unusual activity in the camper...
I believe that is what we heard that the upper end was washed out and they did not plan to reopen it. We ran the entire trail and exited the upper end in I believe 2019.

That’s the one I was thinking of and thought they all followed suit. I’ve never been to anyone of them. Just knew about the Desert Bar from the Chuck Wells book.

My previous dogs were great climbers but my Kenda is afraid of everything. Yesterday we crossed a narrow shaky bridge on a beaver dam. She started wining. I said get over here or stay there. I turned my back and suddenly she was there. Very frustrating for an outdoors man. I’ll bet Tanner could...
UPDATE: there is no liquor or anything served except the one near Parker, AZ.
I believe those desert bars are legitimate with liquor license and all. They do good business with all the side by sides passing through in season. Even 4Runners are welcomed. I drive one too.
