The rust on the rims really started bugging me. So I started re-painting them.
Here's a progress pic. I have 4 left to do, including the trailer. But the 3 that are done look light years better than before.

While I don't have any experience with the Sorento, I have dealt with other Kia models and really don't like them. They tend to be heavy with a terrible turning radius, bad braking and weak on power. Parts are difficult to come by unless you go through the dealership. I would suggest you stay...
Kinda what I thought when I read it the first time... I had to double take on the pix to make sure it's the same guy. Sounds like he's lucky it didn't turn out worse than it did.
ON September 1st Justin rolled his Zuk 4 times on asphalt. He broke his neck in the process, and is fortunate enough to have retained his ability to walk and function. He attributes this to to the quality seat and harness he used in the build. While he's doing ok, the Zuk is dead.
I'm...
On another note... the last trip an issue with my brake lights came up and I've been working on re-wiring them. At one point a custom rear bumper was built using oval grommet style LED trailer lights. Basically a 2 bulb system vs the stock 3 bulb system. So when troubleshooting the issue I...
WOO HOO!!! Took the first step in doing a "Big Block Swap" and traded an old winch for a 1.6 8v!
Good thing too, cuz that leaky old 1.3 is getting tired.
New stuff!!! I love it. I picked up this aluminum roof rack with a bunch of lights (that I won't be using) for less than $100.
Now I just need to build a mount for it.

The lights will be cleaned, fixed and passed on to others.
I'd say keep the truck and get an older vehicle as a toy. Pick up something stock that needs some work to be reliable, some modification to be capable and get to work. In the long run you'll know your rig better, and feel more confident taking it into remote places.
You can't go wrong with any...
Nice rig. I love the simplicity of your mirror relocation. Do you have any problems with vibrations?
I removed the driver's mirror, and altered a mirror for a Jeep CJ and attached it to the window "hinge". It works, but the door hits it when en opened.
The problem is usually solved by going...
TripLeader here's a link to the route, and a bunch of other map related info. The course is called CORA FH, the layer can be found near the bottom of the list.

Thanks. It was a lot of fun. I'm totally looking forward to the next trip!
Hmmm... where shall we go?
I have to give props and thanks to a couple of groups who contributed greatly in making this trip happen. The Kansas Backroads Touring group is the source of a good part of the route...
What an amazing trip. The Zuk performed excellently. It was uncomfortable, dusty and loud for nearly 200 miles, the vast majority of which was dirt.

The trailer did well, however there are a list of things that need to change. But i was impressed considering it was...
The fenders are finished.
Now... on to planning for my weekend trip in the Flint Hills... and yes, there will be pictures. :D

I love it when things come together, and they don't cost a thing other than sweat. In preparation for a trip this weekend. I put together a canoe rack for the trailer. A whole lot of function over form. And I came up with this. The cool thing is that most all of it is treated lumber and it...
