Behind the front tires I didn't want to use self-tapping sheet metal screws like I've seen done elsewhere. There are perfectly good holes for the tube step bars I will never use. Plus I wanted the lights to not be tucked way up under the body, so back to FreeCAD and my Prusa MK3S 3D printer...
I've also been making progress on the rock lights.
I decided on MICTUNING C2 Curved White LED Rock Lights because they were not to expensive and I'm not obsessed with getting the brightest LEDs on the market right now.
They also promised Fashion Design and Craftsman's Quality.
Compared to...
I installed my RCI front bumper last week and then tackled the problem of how to mount the Toyota OEM fog lights. I didn't want to blow $200+ on aftermarket 4" LED cubes and deal with the wiring when I had perfectly functional fog lights that came with the truck.
I couldn't find mounting...
I just found a way to make this rack even better by storing the paddles too! Those darned paddles. They were either leaning in a corner in the garage or banging around in the back of the truck. Two weeks ago, we almost forgot to pack them...
No more!
What I needed was a set of these:
I...
1: Do you load solo?
Yes, I load this myself. One of the thwarts is located at the center of gravity of the canoe and is shaped like a yoke. So it is very easy to carry and move with the canoe up-side-down on my shoulders. I've seen kayaks with retractable wheels but I have never felt the...
I just retired/replaced my old canoe rack. It was mounted on a traditional two-cross member rack with slots.
Figure 1: cross member canoe mounts. The top mount fits in the front rack position and cradles the bow from the outside of the gunwale. The bottom mount fits in the rear rack...
Last winter I totaled my 2006 Tacoma & so now I'm starting over with a 2022 Tacoma Access Cab TRD Pro. My 2006 build appeared to be inspired by the Lemony Snickets books "A series of unfortunate events ":
I backed over a rock which tore off a mud flap and discovered the factory "mud flap...
I did this on my 2006 Tacoma and it worked so well it was one of the first things I did on my new 2022 Taco.
This is just a couple of commercial floor mats from the Home Depot and some other stuff.
for insulation I use some carpet foam for the 1st layer to conform to the groves of the...
I guess, as the original poster on this thread I should reply on this whole front locker question. To make a long story short, adding front locker was an afterthought when I was already getting a lot of other work done, including replacing the rear axle with a Currie High Pinon 9" & re-gearing...
When I posted this question, I couldn't understand what the TRD had that the SR didn't that justified the difference in price. What I learned is that there are several differences (summarized above) the key details are the 8.75 ring gear and stronger rear axles on the TRD, the rear differential...
I reserved a Tacoma TRD three weeks ago and took delivery yesterday. I had contacts with every dealership in the San Francisco Bay Area and Sacramento Area and this was the only TRD available at this time. One Dealership I spoke to said they were marking up their TRD's by $10,000.
After 16 years, its time to replace my 06 TRD Off Road Tacoma. This wasn't planned but accidents happen & so here I am starting a new build. My 06 had custom skids, sliders, & bumpers, a high pinion Currie rear axle, lockers front and rear, and was re-geared to run 35" tires. Rear suspension...
Galvanized trashcan lid. The 1/2" aluminum tubing has 1/16th inch holes drilled every 2 inches to let the propane out and the end is hammered flat. The aluminum tubing is held to the pan by 1/2" Electrical Metallic Tube (EMT) fasteners. I'm sure length of of the straight part could be half...
I'd suggest a base plate where the aluminum tube rests on the composite truck bed. Over time the weight and abrasion might cause that area to fail. Either a plastic or aluminum based plate to distribute the weight may help.
I didn't like any of the portable grills available a few years ago so I made my own.
I didn't like any of the portable grills available for sale. The good ones were bulky and expensive and the cheap ones were, well, cheap. I wanted something lightweight and compact but not flimsy, that had an...
A lot of burger/taco joints have these. I keep my eyes (and fingers) open. Dijon mustard is harder to find. Of course there's always Amazon https://www.amazon.com/Cholula-Hot-Sauce-Packet-Bundle/dp/B00FDGEIRC/ref=sr_1_7_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1474430535&sr=8-7&keywords=cholula+hot+sauce
