Make sure.you pay attention to the year of your truck. I have a similar mount for my 11 Ram. Has 3/4 hole for nmo mount. MIne is on drivers side, to keep away from the stereo antenna.
I am far from an expert, I have UV5R, and while you are correct, it is not on par with Kenwoods, and Icoms I have owned, for 40 bucks, it is a pretty nice radio.
