Are sliding cargo doors really that bad?

Just want to thank everyone who has taken the time to chime in. There are some great points in this thread and I have a new appreciation for the sliders. Thanks to this thread, I have decided to buy a van with a slider. I'll be sure to post pictures as soon as I get it home. Thanks again for the...

Are sliding cargo doors really that bad?

Thanks for chiming in, Witt. 285/75 is equivalent to 33" if I'm not mistaken. Good to know a slider will clear 33s without modification. I think 33s would be good enough for my intended use. I appreciate the info.

Are sliding cargo doors really that bad?

These are all good points... When you say that sliders eventually require adjustment, is that a lubrication issue or do the sliders actually become misaligned over time?

Are sliding cargo doors really that bad?

Thanks for the input, so far. The collective wisdom found on this forum has yet to let me down. The van in question is already 4x4 and I had not considered the interference of larger tires with the slider. Is there a magic number in terms of tire size with regards to this issue? I'd like to go...

Are sliding cargo doors really that bad?

Decided to get an e-series wagon with hopes of turning into an expo/camper platform eventually. I found pretty much exactly what I was looking for in terms of options BUT the van in question does have the sliding cargo door which I did not want. The reason I didn't want a sliding cargo door was...

    Kawasaki 650

I think you just answered your own question. Top heavy bikes suck to pick up and can be sketchy in certain riding conditions.

2008 KLR 650 lots of farkles!

Say it isn't so, Frank. I just joined the KLR club and was looking forward to having you as a trusted resource. Your KLR thread was very informative and helpful. Sounds like you may have set your sights on something else (probably orange...) but you will be missed by the KLR community.

    2013 Husqvarna TR650 test (enduro 360)

Definitely looks like a nice bike and seems to be a real contender on paper. I was going to hold out for one, but I decided to pull the trigger on a new KLR instead.

    640 Adventure ?s

Definitely buy this bike if it is in good mechanical condition and you can afford it. Like Frank, I too would buy a 640 in a heartbeat, but I can't seem to find any decent local examples. I was very close to purchasing a KLR650, but have now set my sights on a 640 Adventure. Good luck and let us...
