    Slee Off-road/OME lift.

That would be nice, however, with the XREAS the assemblies have to be replaced, so, by the time you buy shocks, springs, and upper mounts, (200k on truck) your pushing into the same dollar figure. I been searching for a Bilstein assembled set up to just change everything but haven't looked in...

    Slee Off-road/OME lift.

Anyone running this OME setup on their 4th gen 4runner? Shocks on the wife‘s are worn out. Don’t even necessarily want a lift but thought this may be a good compromise and nice upgrade over stock. Going to run 265/70/17 BFG ATs. Daily driver, teardrop puller when traveling long distance...

    Why buy a land cruiser?

I’ve wanted a Land Cruiser since 1986 when I started working at the local Toyota dealer as an oil changer. 35 years later and now a service manager at a Toyota dealer for 20 years I still haven’t gotten one. I did the pre delivery inspection on an 86 FJ60 way back then and fell in love. Still...

What to do with “Marge”. The little green truck

My older son turns 30 next month. I bought him this little 92 Toyota at 16. It was an awesome little truck. He drove it ten years, wrecked it on day one, totaled it a few months later. We kept it and put it back together with a rebuilt title. He’s driving a new Rav4 now And loves it. 7 years...

    Are 285s worth it?? Update

New gears in. Pretty sweet. Not a huge difference, but accelerates much smoother. way much quieter. Rear pinion was howling terrible. About 500 RPM higher at 70mph. Start the break in tomorrow.

Stay 4runner or go back to Jeep...

The cheapest vehicle to have is always the one you already own. And, really there is just no need for 35s on a 4runner. 33s are fine. And really, for what most of us are doing we dont even "need" 33s. If things are worn out then replace and upgrade if you want, but $8k buys a lot of fuel. Avoid...

    Electric Chain Saw???

I just happen to know a guy with a Land Cruiser @peterb who was rescued by a guy with a chain saw that he had on a house boat. Figure that. Quite an adventurous day indeed.

    Are 285s worth it?? Update

Well, it’s getting close to decision time. Rear diff is going to need replacement pretty soon. Dilemma. Go ahead and regear and replace the front as well? No more than it’s driven, just replace stock and roll on. (5000 to 6000 miles a year) ? Seems to make sense to regear at this “opportunity “...

Talk me out of doing something stoopid.... or don't.

Man thats pretty sweet. As others have said though, you need to have some mechanical ability and a network of help when owning something odd like that. Chances are it would be fine, but..... It would definitely be cool. Homework, homework, homework. For me, if I was going to go diesel it would...

    1987 toyota pickup

We have a 93 22re with ac. The power loss is insignificant. If you have any mechanical ability at and want to, you could install it yourself. Way back when I was still wrenching at the dealer ship we would do the add ons after hours. One working inside and one under the hood took an hour at the...

Best way to secure a Max Coupler hitch when leaving the trailer in camp for the day

If Im in a regular campground I just throw the hitch assembly in the back of the 4runner and leave the teardrop. Otherwise yeah, locking pin and then assembly with me. Some guys use a wheel lock also. I have thought of adding that just for maybe safer keeping.

Should I build my 3rd gen or start with a new platform?

I dont see anything there I'd be too concerned with. Front bumper bracket maybe a little rough, but I would worry with that. Rock on.

Should I build my 3rd gen or start with a new platform?

Only part of that I'd be concerned with is rust. Leaking VC gasket is standard equipment on 3.4. Do the rear cam seal when you do it or you'll still have a leak. Have a new key cut, if it needs a cylinder thats not a bad job either. It may or may not need to have the key programmed after. If you...
