My only hesitation for towing a trailer up there is if you were forced to back up a narrow stretch for an extended distance to yield to uphill traffic. Otherwise, the terrain is easier than the published descriptions lead you to believe.

Yes, I did hear from Mike. White Feather does his conversions independently, so he doesn't publish any info. Which is less than helpful, since WF doesn't either. Their meager site is devoted to Sprinter conversions and doesn't even mention other brands.

Got a rather uninformative reply to my question at their Yahoo Group. They will do pretty much anything I want, and they use White Feather for their conversions. I would have to talk to them about details - I guess GTRV can't supply any:

Thank you. It's OK to drift off topic for a couple of posts, but IMHO it would be better to shout at each other in private, please.

I just found this company but can't find any info about their conversions. Can someone summarize or give me a link?
How does their conversion compare to U-Joint and Sportsmobile?
I have to say that their website is pretty darn spartan and "info free".

Thanks.

I have to say that these posts are pretty darn depressing. I would never for a moment commit to buying a new FUSO until all these serious issues were fully worked out.
Did Mitsubishi assign all their beginner engineers to this design? It sure seems as if there are just way too many purely...
This is one reason I want to see both in person. But honestly I don't give a flip about what the wood looks like as long as the grain is OK and there are no knotholes. I'm more concerned about overall build quality and thoughtful design.
Yes the Moby1 is heavy. I won't tolerate a tongue weight...
Their options sheet shows only a 45 or a 60 liter fridge. If you don't have them yet, email and ask for the Brochure and Pricing/ Options pdfs. I bet you could add a second small fridge up front in the expedition box to act as a meat locker...... but there won't be enough room for that and a...
I want to look one over in person, inspect the quality of the hidden stuff - wiring and plumbing, welds, etc and compare to the other brands. Plus I won't be able to afford one for a while...... at least, not specced the way I would like it. Maybe I'll get a basic one and have them prep it for...
This is unrelated to trailers, but I just read that Charlie Boorman will be attending this year. He is listed as an "exhibitor" on the Overland Expo page, and he also mentions it here:

I would like to shake his hand and buy a tee shirt. Now I need to...
Pretty cool trailer.
Thirteen pics at this time:

I have to say I was dubious about having the spare tire blocking the galley hatch, but being able to add a table or stove to the inside of the tire...
I received an email from Mario at Adventure Trailers. He told me that there would be at least a couple of AT teardrop trailers at OE 2013. I hope he won't mind if I quote a couple of lines:
"One is recently built, completed in February for a return client who owned a Chaser trailer previously...
LOL, no is the correct answer. A parking brake back plate assembly is pretty much the same as a plain version, but it has a cam and an external arm instead of a fixed post, so the shoes can be operated manually. Plus it's three to four times the price. ;(
Dexter brake parts catalog: ...
I don't own a teardrop, but am in the shopping phase.
That TC trailer looks adequate for dragging around forest roads in the East, but I wouldn't try Moab with it. It has a 1500 pound axle (too light) and obviously low build quality in the cabinets (velcro to hold the doors closed, no...
That axle assembly doesn't have the parking brake feature - but maybe you can call and have them swap in the correct left and right backing plate assemblies. It will cost extra. I have never seen an axle offered with the P brakes installed.
If they won't swap the brakes, it may be cheaper to...
You need hoses or stainless brake lines (NOT raw steel), tubing bender and flaring tool (if you choose hard lines), and an "electric over hydraulic" brake actuator (US$600+). Plus a couple of quarts of DOT3. That axle is a great price, because the cheapest I have seen the Kodiak disk kit is at...
Do you mind telling us where you live? And do you know if these transmission/ emissions issues are worldwide?
I have to admit that hearing this stuff is disheartening. I think the engineering is cool, but only if it actually works.
How could a major player like Mitsubishi screw it up so...
Cool! Good luck on your project.
I personally would not have chosen a Series 80 petrol drivetrain, due to issues with head gasket failure and increasing difficulties in obtaining certain (and expensive) parts, plus the horrible fuel economy..... but if yours is in prime shape you should be...
I guess this means it's really happening.
