    Mounting the Habor Freight Box

Keep a close eye on them. Tapping a hole in a mild steel part for a heavy stressed accessory is problematic at best. The steel is just too durn soft (and too thin, most likely) to provide a good safety margin of strength. I've drilled and tapped holes in frames and steel bumpers, but it was for...

    Kirsch's TRAX hunters maps ?

Has anyone tried these state maps, and can you comment on their usefulness for expedition driving? I am considering buying a new Garmin NUVI 27XX and am thinking about adding these maps for off-pavement use. I'm thinking the big 7 inch hi res screen would be most useful and easy to read when...

ATW Global Warrior .... Official Pics

As a long time EarthCruiser fan, I have to say that this rig has replaced that machine in my heart. My only concern is if the price is way higher..... When can we expect to see one in the USA? John Davies Spokane WA USA

Aspen X Trails Kelly Tear Drop build

I am following this thread closely. I am impressed by your metalwork. And I am looking forward to seeing your trailer at OE 2013. Can you comment on your suspension? I am no fan of the Torflex for washboard roads, and for the possibility of bushing failure. The big pluses for Torflex are its...

Offroad Teardrops at Overland Expo 2013?

Hmm - did those trailers arrive later?. My wife and I were there the first day and departed Friday morning. We went out into the back forty and didn't see any teardrops, or we just missed you guys somehow...... The teardrop we saw was indeed parked next to that gang of Sportsmobiles close to the...

Offroad Teardrops at Overland Expo 2013?

I have received an email from Moby1 saying that they will have "several models" of teardrops on display, and from Adventure Trailers that they will NOT have a teardrop, but that they were aware that several owners would be there so I could talk to them. Do any of you who own a _commercially...

    EarthCruiser Overland Vehicles

Nice, but can you give us a link to the real pics - those are 201x300 pixels and I can't see anything worth seeing. How about some high resolution versions, please? Can you comment on the lack of a low range transfer case? How is the truck working on tight trails? This is a real negative IMHO...

Roof top tent - DIY - Scratch build

Cool, this will be fun to watch. Might I suggest going larger on the pivot bolts, and installing sintered bronze (self lubricating) bushings? They are porous and absorb the lube, releasing it as needed. The larger diameter reduces wear on the bolt - I expect that is a pretty high stress area...

EarthRoamer website "suspended" - what's up?

The EarthRoamer website is down. Does anyone know what this means? Is the company still healthy and functioning? I have been out of the loop for a while... but I actually wore my cool EarthRoamer shirt just yesterday. "We're Sorry! This Account Has Been Suspended. This could be for many reasons...

You saw it here first_ NEW LHD EarthCruiser

That is true, but where the heck is the top part? I have mixed feelings about entering through the head. If I need to get into the cabin when I am wet and muddy, it makes a lot of sense ... unless my wife is sitting on the toilet or taking a shower. Then I would have to wait outside or enter...

    Shock failure experience

FWIW I woudn't use epoxy for a permanent repair on something as critical as a fuel tank. Even if it's a PITA to remove, I am sure you would feel better 500 miles from home, in the middle of the desert, knowing that crack was fixed correctly..... rather than worrying that the epoxy might pop off...

Found some very nice hi res images of the newest FUSO

I know these have been floating around for a while, but these are the really big versions. Six pics in this gallery - click the blue "Full Image" link at the bottom of any pic for a very large version (1500 x 938 pixels - way bigger than the following two images). I especially like these...

    Sportsmobile Fuso

Here is a link to magazine reviews of the Trail Manor trailers: ... http://www.trailmanor.com/WebDocs/Misc/Info&FAQ/Tests/tests.html The walls, floor and counter tops are made of laminated foam and aircraft sheet aluminum.
