First truck camper - Slide-on setup vs fixed body

I did consider 35's, though 37's really do have that 'cool' factor haha. A decision made at the time really, no trimming and 35's, maybe, trimming needed then 37's it is haha. How do you find the trackmasters, If going with something no more than 5000kg I planned on using the Hankook MT's, I...

First truck camper - Slide-on setup vs fixed body

Small world, I've actually been chatting to Steve about that truck. I had him take some pics an try measure up the rear wheel section, as I figured some trimming and re-sheeting required there, I think only the inner section. I don't think a swap to 37" super singles sees the outer edge of...

First truck camper - Slide-on setup vs fixed body

I didn't think of that one but you're correct, checking rego prices it certainly costs more for a truck/commercial vs motorhome. I haven't looked into it either but insurance may also be easier on a motor vs insuring a truck but including a slide on.

First truck camper - Slide-on setup vs fixed body

Awesome feed back guys, interesting takes on each view point too. The reality is either option is a compromise, part of this plan is heavily compromised by taking my dog, but his my best mate so it wont' happen any other way. The 2000 NPS 300 fixed Winnebago build I've been looking at (2000km...

First truck camper - Slide-on setup vs fixed body

I'm looking to buy/setup/build my first 4x4 truck based camper (single cab). The plan is to rent the house, use equity for purchase and travel Australia without an end date, just me and my 4 legged best mate. While a truck setup seems overkill for so many travellers ;) haha, given it will be...

    SOLOSHOT3

My dog and I compete in Dog Agility, Soloshots are very popular among competitors. Many patiently waited for the Soloshot3 and now have them. Tracking a handler/dog is no doubt more demanding than a 4x4 but many are disappointed. I've personally used the one we have a club a number of...

    2000 NPS300 - Mileage & Issues

I figured they'd be slow given the specs, really though all these light trucks seem that way, just different levels of slow. Ouch down to 60, I'm picturing which sections would do that to you now. What sort of weight? KM wise I wonder if similar logic applies to as with cars. Ie 250,000kms...

    2000 NPS300 - Mileage & Issues

I'm looking at a 2000 model NPS300, which has the Sitec 115 in it. The truck has about 240,000kms on it with a camper body already on it I figure they're pretty slow but wondered if these KM's are an issue on such trucks? From a car/4x4 world I've had modified XR6 Turbo Falcons with more kms...

2011-2015 Canter/Fuso dual range transfer case swap possible?

Cheers for checking that out, yes vac operated should in theory make it 'fairly' simple. However I'm steering away from this idea, doing lots of sums it'll really stretch my budget and I'd rather have the cash to extend/continue travels and also stress less about finding any work on the road...

2011-2015 Canter/Fuso dual range transfer case swap possible?

I've confirmed that in the single range example i'm talking about the engine (4P10) and gearbox (MO38) is the exact same as newer dual range models. So in theory it should just bolt up. I have to confirm if the transfer cases are the same externally so bolt up the same, and attached to the...

    2002 NPS300 Repower

Yes certainly a bigger improvement but would it not be able to achieve with the 4HG1 Turbo (or turboed) with a tune/remap, fuel and some boost, intercooler added? Easier than an engine swap? If non turbo I'm not sure what gains are had with any remap/tune, my knowledge of engine performance...

    2002 NPS300 Repower

Keen to hear thoughts on this one. Looking at a 300 with the same engine and camper on it (will be modding), power certainly seems lacking. I think there is a factory turbo option of the same engine, maybe only certain countries? Wikipedia lists it, marginal more power and torque, but boost...

2011-2015 Canter/Fuso dual range transfer case swap possible?

It's a rare thing indeed when things are cheaper in Australia vs the USA ! Thanks for all the info, it does seem quite involved with possible complications. I'll look into it further but perhaps an earlier model would be a simpler option. Cheers Dan.

2011-2015 Canter/Fuso dual range transfer case swap possible?

Hi everyone, Great forum, loads of great info and awesome setups and builds. I've got my eye on a 2012 All Terrain Warriors Canter/Fuso bus as a build platform, however sadly this model has no low range. Does anyone know if it's possible to fit a dual range transfer from either an earlier or...
