GREY.HOUND
I have an '04 Tundra with a Northstar TC800XB. I also mounted Yokahama "E" rated tires and air bags. I have had no problems with this set-up. There are times I wish I had a little more power, but thats all. I have also pulled a 5'x8' enclosed trailer with 2 dirt bikes, riding gear...
Zidaro,
I had a Yakima wind deflector on before I made this. I used the factory plexiglass piece, and later, a larger home-made one. This wedge is much better and quieter. I've taken the rig off-road quite a bit with no problems with the wedge hitting my cab.
J Rod,
The awning is home-made: tarp from Harbor freight, tent poles from Walmart. I had a friend sew in a length of rope into the tarp and this slides into the awning channel on my camper.
Johng,
The wedge is home-made as well. Some people have taken vinyl fence posts to make theirs. I used...
Colby Jack,
Here are some pics of my rig. Sorry I don't have any of the interior.
Also, check out the Northstar brochure. My pickup is in there. I think on page 6 (?).
As you can see, I have a standard bed Tundra and the TC800XB camper (8ft.). The floor of the TC650 is short. I got what I...
Actually, the window does not replace the door. You would have to get an aftermarket window and mount that in the door itself. I have not done this, just wanted to see if it was do-able.
Yes, two people can utilize the fold out bed easily. Another quality feature Northstar did was to make the...
J Rod,
I am VERY pleased with my Northstar TC800XB. My initial concern was if I really need the fold out bed. It really does come in handy for storage of gear bags and the like. Also, it's a great place my dog can sleep and be out of the way. I don't always pop it out, so one thing I do miss is...
I say "GET IT!" I'm not familiar with them but I did look at one from the outside (it was locked) a couple years ago. I would say they're middle of the road in quality.
This looks like it's in great condition. Just because the company is out of business doesn't mean you can't get parts. Parts...
I don't have a picture, but what I use is a receiver hitch cargo carrier with bike mounts like those shown in the picture of the couple in back of their Hallmark. The bikes are in the way to access the camper but I just release the rear wheel from its tie-down and swing the back end around...
Verde Rat,
Thanks for the reply and the pics. Seeing where the SES bumpers are mounted on the rear, it does not look like I'll be able to use them with the air bags.
I see that Wheeler's Offroad has these priced at $195.00 front or rear. I have not compared pricing anywhere, but that seems...
Has anyone used the Timbren Suspension Enhancement System (SES) on your Tundras (or any other make/model)? Are they worth the investment?
I have an '04 Tundra with airbags and Rancho 9000's. During the spring, summer and fall months, I carry my Northstar TC800 and would like to beef up the back...
Regcabguy,
Thanks for the cardboard tip. I haven't had any problems with mine and I drive with it running on propane all the time:yikes:
"Inadvertently,I've forgotten to shut off the gas and go to 12v and the flame has always gone out. " Maybe this is an auto safety shut off???
