    School me on RTT

98dango -- I have spent some time in Roundup at a friend's ranch. There ARE some snakes there, as in most of the state - especially south of the Missouri. I have been using roof top tents for more than a dozen years -- on my Landcruisers, on trailers, on my Ford SUVs, and my F250 and F350...

James Baroud or Autohome roof top tent

We do this fairly regularly… ship tents to AT for installation. No problem, and might save you a little money on shipping, too! Martyn or Mario can order for you.

Sunbrella as a Roof Top Tent Cover

The covers hat we sell are made from Hypalon (that is also used in inflatable boats). They hold up pretty well. Much of the wear on RTT travel covers is due to friction and movement of the fabric caused by air passing over the tent in motion. It helps to re-enforce the inner corners and other...

Ever tried to make your own roof top tent cover?

You can use the HD truck tarp material, it is pretty tough. Get the heaviest material that you can find and add internal upsets to reinforce the corners and other high wear spots. Use seam sealer. The main problem is getting a fit that is tight enough not to flap in the wind (this is a primary...

    RTT Ladder Padding

The Baroud ladders are similar to ours, but I am not sure they are the same. Ours have a flat, textured surface more than an inch wide, and are rounded on the edges. They are about as comfortable as a collapsable metal ladder can be made, but many people require more comfort. Fixing sticky back...

    Bedrack/RTT w/ Canopy?

Two simple and pratical solutions… 1. Swap your rack for a fiberglass cap (ARE is what I have on my F350). I am using Yakima tracks bolted through the top of the cap and sealed with Sikaflex. Most FG shells today have a double construction on the top with some type of stiffening between the two...

Personal review of the Maggiolina roof top tent.

I concur on the Thule XSporter rack. We recommend them to our customers who need the type of solution the OP inquired about. If you go this route, be aware that you will need to order the 'WIDE' mounting clamps, as the standard mounting clamps do not fit over the XSporter cross bars.

    Fuel milage???? 80 and a 100

My 80 series gets 11-13 MPG, my 100 series gets 15-18 MPG. Like the 100 series better on the road, like the 80 better off-road.

    RTT Ladder Padding

Can anyone be specific as to the brand model of the tent/ladder that is causing the problem? There are a lot of different RTT ladders and configurations to deal with. Personally, I keep a pair of slip-ons handy and wear them when entering or exiting the tent. They cushion the soles of my feet...

Personal review of the Maggiolina roof top tent.

The bottom platform of all our hardshell tents is a foam/fiberglas (or carbon fiber) sandwich that is over one inch thick. It is similar to the hull of a Boston Whaler boat. They are quite rigid. If the amounting surface is not flat, I have seen them deflect slightly + or - 1/4" at maximum, when...

Personal review of the Maggiolina roof top tent.

If The tent has a rigid bottom platform (non-flexing) and the standard Thule bars are properly secured, they work well when the tent is firmly fastened with clamps with nylock nuts. We have fitted a couple of thousand tents, most of them to Thule bars, and never a bar or tent failure resulting...

    1964 FJ40 all original with 28000 miles

I had an early FJ40 - identical to the one in the photo. I bought it new and drove it for 15 years, then sold it to a kid who totaled it at Pismo. Awesome vehicle, I never should have sold it. DO the deal.

    Who we are. . .

'Killer' video. He captures the core experience of being a participant in the outdoor world, as opposed to being an observer. I have hunted all my life. Never apologized for it, and have given up in talking to the new generation of urban cultural imperialists who cry down hunting as cruel and...
