It depends on how it's setup. I had one fail, the lower mounting point broke
Having 4, so down to 3, I was still able to raise and lower the top. I even camped with it, and with the locking pin, that corner was locked up despite there was no actuator there to do that job.
Now the way it...
I've had my RTT for almost as long as I've had my truck, so about 7 years. I love the RTT, but it can be inconvenient. Being single it wasn't bad, even in off-road events where I had to set it up every night and take it down every morning it was slightly annoying, but not too bad. When camping...
They do once in a while. I got them from PA for convenience. I replaced one last week (lower mount broke, probably from the stressed/bending bolt), and conveniently being in Kingston, home of PA, I just had to drive to go get a new one. They do ship, I had to since I couldn't find 4 in one...
I'm running linear actuators; one on each corner. I wouldn't call it complex at all, it's as simple or as complex as you want it to be. Make a mounting bracket with a top at the top and the bottom, and it's done. If your not good with electrical, it could be confusing or intimidating because...
Thanks! :D Electric actuators on each corner.
Not sure if it'll work, but here's a video of the system

I've got a FB page to keep everything organized in terms of documenting...
Thanks! :)
I've thought about it before and I don't see why not. I've even got locking pins for when it's in the up-position, so the top isn't going anywhere. The only "issue" is if the canvas will like it, especially at highway speeds. If anything, I could easily remove the canvas (it's on...
I know what you mean. I was looking at Tacomas back many years ago and they had a heck of a premium being a Toyota. Although I deemed that I didn't need a pickup specifically preferred the SUV body and got an Xterra (been over 7 years now), and decided to save my cash for upgrades and make it...
Indeed, I love it! It's is pretty much what I had envisioned when I wanted mine, but my dad built it differently, which made it a huge pain to bolt on and sits a tad lower with the shackle mounts underneath, but I can't complain for free.
(I've also got a 2"BL so it shows more.
And especially if you put a scratch on any of those unicorns...but I know what you mean. They normally ask for a premium to. Sometimes I see them go for a good price on XterraNation or ClubXterra, but they're in the US, so shipping north of the border wouldn't make it worth it in the end.
Last...
As far as I've been told, no. Could talk to the guy a RuggedRocks, he rums a Hardbody Pathy. He also sells the sliders and gusset kit, probably to make your own. In the end, probably just need to take those parts in to a weld shop to get them welded into the right spot...
I know! I want one! I've wanted a basket but mounted inside the rack's rails. A Hep baske is nice but they're damn expensive, and I don't want to guess the shipping to Canada. That might be a very good alternative that would make me happy!
Nice truck! You've got similar mods to me with the boost gauge (i've got volts there) and the winch tucked in the front bumper. What roof basket is that and how did you modify it to fit like that?
Looks good, TrAiLbUs1! I always love extendable racks!
Mine's been rolling again for about a week with the tent and got the inside canvas done last week.
Got the trailer out to camp at Mosport/Canadian Tire Motorsports Park for the ALMS weekend. I got the inside canvas done and it was finished Friday right after work, picked the trailer up and literally went straight to the site.
12v was temporarily hooked up (at the canvas shop) for the trip...
