That's not bad at all. Right about what mine averages.
Everyone gets too caught up with fuel mileage numbers. If the truck does what I need it to do (comfortably) then I don't really care much about the mileage.
Recent pic from some mountain roads last week:
I see a lot of you guys mentioning adding a cooling fan to the 3-way fridge? I think mine has that from the factory. It's got a switch installed on the fridge cabinet that reads ventilation fan and it seems to be on a thermostat or temp switch. After the fridge runs for a while, the fan will...
That's a bummer about the Yukon gear failure. That's what I'm currently running in mine.
I went with 4.88 gears and 37s and wouldn't change a thing. Not sure what your OD ratio is, but with mine i'm running 1950rpm @ 70mph.
Had 35's with the stock 3.73 gears and the 4.88/37s tows and...
Interesting. Maybe i'm not giving it enough time or something? I'm fairly certain that it will not work in my driveway. Left it running on A/C power the night before we went camping and the next day it was still warm inside the fridge.
How off-level can you be and yours still function...
Love my LBZ truck. Probably my favorite vehicle that I've built/owned. Oh, and I did "fix" the only cons that you speak of.... ;)
With the camper, my truck weighs just over 10k lbs. Mileage is ~13-14mpg. Not great by any means, and I honestly think a lot of the "my diesel pulls a 40'...
F550 is built pretty overkill. D135 rear end and a super 60 (really a 70) front axle. As long as he doesn't go crazy, shouldn't have any issues even with the 42" tires he's running. Most 550s come with 4.88 gearing stock.
I wouldn't consider lockers overkill, especially if they're selectable. I probably use mine more than I really have to. I prefer to go ahead and lock the diffs and crawl an obstacle rather than spin tires or build momentum. Seems to provide a much more controlled environment and is gentler on...
I'm fairly certain that the fridge that's currently in the camper is a Dometic. Hoping I can find a model number, call them up, and order.
* Bingo. Found mine on their website...
Awesome, if I can find that model in the size that will fit mine, I'll order it tomorrow. Going to go to my storage unit in the morning and pull some measurements on the existing fridge.
I should have specified better, my bad. I'm not looking for a plug-n-play swap, just something that is of the same style (front loading) and close to same dimensions. I'm thinking that if I do away with the LP fridge, then I should be able to enclose the fridge area from the outside of the...
I've not had my truck camper very long, but one thing that is not working out for me is the factory installed 3-way fridge. It's a great idea that I wish could be made to work for me, but I don't think that's going to be the case.
My rig is never "level" enough for it to work properly it seems...
Don't have much to add, other than killer build and I love those Pro6 lights. I run 8x of them on my truck and definitely prefer them to a lightbar...
Keep adding more pics! Jealous of your western location.
H1 has always been my childhood dream vehicle. Was fortunate enough to own one of these beasts, and all I can say is to make sure you spend some time in one before dropping a lot of cash. They're a LOT of vehicle, and are very unique.
Mine was a civilian model HMC4, loaded will all options...
Yes sir. My favorite Chevy truck (07 classic), but wasn't a fan of the IFS. Wanted something strong and reliable for traveling with a camper onboard! Whole setup weighs in at 10,300lbs.
